Among those sending congratulatory messages to newly elected President Barack Obama was the PKK (Kurdish People’s Party). The leaders of the terrorist organization, Murat Karayilan and Zubayir Aydar, who had signed the congratulatory message to Obama, asked the president elect to work toward a solution for the Kurdish issue in Turkey.

By stating that they are not enemies of Iraq, the PKK terrorist leaders asked Obama to search for a democratic solution to the Kurdish question. In their congratulatory letter, posted on a web page believed to be close to the PKK, Karayilan and Zubayir underlined the fact that “the PKK was unjustly considered a terrorist organization throughout the reign of President George W Bush. The latest, distorted, view in this regard, adopted last year with the objective of appeasing Turkey, was that our organization was to be considered an enemy of the United States, Turkey, and Iraq. Turkey was provided advanced weaponry and it’s civil and military intelligence apparatus were enhanced.

This plain lamenting and complaining shows that the PKK expects new treatment from the forthcoming Washington Administration.
