U.S. has New Experience at Geneva Negotiations

The foreign minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran has said, “Whatever Mr.Jalili, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, says in discussions, is the view of the entire government”

Mr. Manoochehr Mottaki, after today’s meeting, in answer to a question about the Iranian nuclear discussions with the group of 5+1 stated, “Statements on issues that were made in the discussions and also those referred to by Mr.Jalili in media interviews, including his statements upon returning back from Geneva, represent the view of the whole government about the nuclear issue.”

Also regarding the U.S. presence at the Geneva meeting, he mentioned that, ” It was a new experience for the Americans to hear Iran’s points directly.“

Mr. Mottaki didn’t give a clear answer to a question that was asked about Mr. Hasan Ghashghavi, the former Iranian ambassador in Sweden, about whether he is going to be Iran’s next minister, saying, “This will be revealed by the media.”

In regards to changing the foreign ministry spokesman, he said, “Since Mr. Hoseyni has already been chosen as the foreign ministry assistant for international law, he can not serve as a spokesman for the ministry”.

Mr.Mottaki expressed his dissatisfaction with some of the media who have discussed a change of the spokesman.

In the meeting, an interviewer asked, “The media says that the US diplomatic office will be open in Tehran next month. Has any formal request bee made to the foreign ministry about that issue?”

“There is no news on our side,” the Iranian foreign minister replied. “America’s interest in the issue is presented in the American way, which is through the media and a few generals – but there has been no formal request.”

He also mentioned the cancellation of a soccer game between Iran and Egypt’s national teams and the cancellation of a Spanish tour, “Sports have their own place and it are a means of cultural and popular communication among nations. And the international support of sports is all encouraging.”

He added: “If in some cases, there happens to be some other negative views , those are some exception that needs to be corrected”

And regarding the Iranian president’s trip to New York, he said: “The issue of the president’s trip to New York and his participation in the UN general assembly is under review now and after the discussion is complete, we will let everyone know of its outcome.”
