It Would Be Nice If McCain Won, But Obama Probably Will

The formula that would best suit Romania would have the next American president be a republican again. This is because, traditionally, the republicans have shown interest in the Black Sea and the Caucasus areas. If Barack Obama wins, American interest will be somewhat redirected to areas like Africa or Indonesia, which are more concurrent with American development according to the Democratic opinion. However, we need to mention that Obama’s running mate, Sen. Joseph Biden, is close to the Black Sea and the Caucasus as well.

The foreign policy of the United States doesn’t change from one president to the next. Only the focus on certain policies changes. All that has been decided, including everything involving the Mihail Kogalniceanu military base, still stands. The U.S. won’t immediately withdraw from Iraq, nor from Afghanistan if the Democrats win the presidency, there will only be a possible shift of forces towards Afghanistan. But the U.S. will still need their military bases. As far as I’m concerned, it would be better if McCain won, but Obama most likely will.
