India Too Needs An ‘Obama’

These days, the magic of Obama is everywhere. But he is most popular among college campus students. Youngsters are seeing themselves in Obama and are considering him as their icon. Students believe that now America will progress more than ever before. They also believe that now even India’s command should be handed over to a younger leader, so that even we can progress much faster. Ashish, who is currently doing a language course from the Art Faculty, Delhi University, says, “When Obama won the election, I also felt that even I could do something for my own country. If I get the chance, even I will join politics.”

It seems that Obama has completely changed the thinking of youngsters. Before today, youngsters had an absolutely different viewpoint about politics. Neera Bhargava, who is currently in her second year of post-graduate work in science, says, “Before I used to think that only aged people enter politics, but since I began to hear names like Obama, Rahul Gandhi and Omar Abdullah, my viewpoint about politics has completely changed. I want, even in our country, youngsters to be encouraged to enter politics.”

Although it hasn’t been a lot of time since he was elected to the presidential post, Obama has become so popular that youngsters are reading books written by him and discussing and following his opinions. First-year student Sanjeev says, “In my class every girl is a fan of Obama.”

He is a real-life hero. In India, also, instead of the aged, young people like Obama should become the prime minister. This is what Jamia University student Anita thinks, “I am pleased that the American public has given a chance to young people like Obama. But the Indian public should also learn a lesson from them. If the American public can choose Obama, then why do we choose politicians who cannot do anything for our country?” Well, the opinion of the youth is very clear that now India also needs a young prime minister!
