On the Steps of Bush’s House

A Mexican immigrant made a joke of the security checks at George W. Bush’s house in Dallas and knocked on the door with the hope that the former president of the United States could help him gain U.S. citizenship faster, press sources reported today.

Sources quoted by television station KTVT Dallas reported that the incident is being investigated by the U.S. Secret Service, the force in charge of providing security to the former president and his family.

According to sources, last weekend Ricardo Pereira knocked on the front door of George and Laura Bush’s home, even though the residence is located on a closed street that is monitored 24 hours a day.

Reporters revealed to KTVT that Pereira was waiting to present himself at Bush’s house with the hope that the former president would help to accelerate his process of citizenship.

It is not known if someone was in the residence or had contact with Pereira, who lives in a shelter for the homeless and destitute located in downtown Dallas.

The incident marks the first time in which security was violated around the house of the former president since the Bush family first moved there in January 2009, just after leaving the White House.

The house is located in the exclusive neighborhood of Preston Hollow, and ever since Bush acquired it, the Secret Service and the Dallas police have made several security updates in this area.

As a former president, Bush enjoys the protection of Secret Service agents 24 hours a day.

Secret Service agents went Thursday to look for Pereira at the shelter where he’s registered as a resident, but they were not able to find him.

KTVT reported that it is not clear if the Mexican immigrant could face any criminal charges for having gained access to the home of the former president.
