The Latest Failure of U.S. Policy

The United States has discovered that its veto in the Security Council represented all the pride and arrogance against the will of the international community and international law, when it exercised this veto in front of the world, refusing to condemn Zionist settlement in Palestinian lands that have been occupied since 1967.

Washington is biased in favor of the Zionist occupation, contrary to the majority of nations. It thus loses its credibility and its role as a mediator between Palestine and the Zionist enemy, which could bring about comprehensive and lasting peace. It proves that it is part of the problem and not part of the solution.

This American veto has removed the veil from the eyes of many in this region who put all their trust in Washington — considering that, to echo Sadat, 99 percent of current money in its hands has guarded, maintained and supported the plot of Zionist settlement since the establishment of the usurpation of Palestinian Arab land in 1948 until today.

According to a fixed strategy, it keeps the Zionist enemy stronger than the Arab countries combined. It has become clear that Netanyahu refused to stop settlement activity and rejected international will, not without Washington’s backing since it encouraged these guerrillas to continue settlement, judaization and the commission of crimes; and to continue ethnic cleansing, in order to implement Zionist plans to judaize the country and Jerusalem, and establish a biblical city and a Jewish majority by 2020.

This America complicity is a retreat for President Obama, who gave substantive and famous speeches in Istanbul and Cairo demanding that Israel stop settlement, instead of putting pressure on the Palestinians to plead for negotiations without conditions and to stop settlement. However, there is the administration’s attempt to persuade the Arab Committee to put follow-up pressure on the Palestinians to return to negotiations with the Zionist enemy bulldozers, demolish Arab homes, establish settlements and synagogues around the mosque, and shake the foundations and walls of the Al Aqsa Mosque, as a prelude to its collapse and the building of a temple.

It is noted, in this regard, despite all the nation’s severity against the continuing settlement and the gravity of the demographic change in Occupied Jerusalem; the subsequent warnings by European delegates about the occupation, and the warning of the seriousness of Zionist violations. In spite of all this, Washington has insisted on remaining silent. And if its officers speak, it is in generalities — a fact that confirms the complicity of the United States with the Zionist enemy and confirms that it adopts goals of aggression, which manifested themselves in the heinous crimes committed against Gaza and the use of prohibited weapons, such as “white phosphorus.”

In sum: The United States used its veto in the Security Council against the Arab project, which condemns the settlement. This confirms that the role of the United States in resolving the conflict is a role dedicated to serving the Zionist enemy and its objectives and plans of aggression, which call for the Palestinian Authority and the Arab Group to reject this role, to radically reconsider the peace process and transfer the Palestinian issue to the United Nations. The Arab position is active and capable of reining in the Zionist enemy, yet it is proven that this enemy and its ally Washington are not interested in peace.
