America and Its Allies’ Assault on Libya … There Is Still Time for the Muslim Ummah to Unite

America and its allies have begun air and naval attacks on Libya in which countless Libyan residents have been killed. It was reported that more than 20 of Libya’s army installations were destroyed. According to America, on Saturday, the attack was mostly by cruise missiles, and during this attack the intense sounds of explosions were heard in Tripoli and Misrata. Even though French military aircraft also bombed Libya, according to incoming reports, 20 French military aircraft destroyed the Libyan army’s countless tanks and army trucks. It is also reported by some that during the air attacks, a hospital in Tripoli and an army colony were also targets. We have been told that America, France, Britain, Canada, Italy and the Arab League countries have joined forces to launch 110 Tomahawk missiles on Libya. The Pentagon says that the target is Libya’s defense system. This operation has been given the name “Odyssey Dawn.”

In a strong reaction to the attack by America and coalition forces, Libyan President Moammar Gadhafi announced that the people of Libya will fight back against “colonial crusader aggression.” He has called citizens to be armed and has threatened attacks on coalition bases in Rome, which has led to America expressing fears that President Moammar Gadhafi may have poisonous gas and chemical weapons that he can use against his opponents. However, American President Obama has announced that the American Army will not take part in any ground action. This has led to Libyan military sources saying that the Western countries’ forces have made civilians and Misrata’s oil reserves their target.

The rising tide of public awareness against persecution by absolute dictatorship, corrupt leaders and their lust for wealth in Arab states started in Tunisia and has left its influence throughout Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain, plowing through military leaders, and has now reached Libya. However, Libyan President Col. Moammar Gadhafi — who since 1969 has maintained power and instead of absolute dictatorship, has been a propagandist for maintaining a pure people’s government, instead of retreating in the face of the rise of public awareness in Libya — has decided to adopt military machinery power to crush the rebels. As a result, thousands of Libyan citizens immolating the Gadhafi regime’s policy have washed their hands of their own lives. It is still difficult to assess the property damage through the air and naval attacks by American coalition forces and Gadhafi’s strict control on his resistance policy; the fear of Libya’s destruction has been posed.

Situations in the past against monarchy, absolute power, arbitrary leaders and dictatorship in the struggle for progressive change have led to bloodshed at a large scale. These events have to be undoubtedly remembered, so that the people of Arab states realize the importance of their participation in government and state affairs and restrictions on freedom of expression, including the deprivation they pose. In this situation, Islam’s Sharia system could be made strong and stable, and Islamic democracy could be promoted. Surely autocratic leaders of Muslim countries can maintain a traditional monarchy like Britain, and the family members can become kings and princes. However, in the era of computer technology, which highlights understanding and awareness, suppressing the citizen’s voice for rights against state power and oppression, and to impose year after year the status quo of autocracy from family to family is no longer possible. In this context, the leaders of Arab states, before raising their heads against these voices, should handle themselves and by exposing the deprivation of their own countries, base Islamic democracy on welfare societies so that the awareness against the secular world’s imperialist power within the Muslim Ummah can be raised.

If Muslim countries unite and share their resources instead of selling them away, and have the capability and capacity to use those resources, then why would these evil allies have the courage to come to the threshold of the Muslim Ummah and kill each one. Unfortunately, the result of the Muslim leaders’ problems and weaknesses has led us today to be whimpering under the dominance of the secular powers. The naturally wealthy and resourceful Arab states, as well as other Muslim countries of South Asia, through excuses, have authorized policies to let them dominate. After the 9/11 attacks on America, with the intention of being in control of Iraq’s oil reserves, America attacked Iraq by air, destroyed it and overthrew the Saddam regime and placed their own puppet Maliki government. The details of the heartbreaking war crimes by America and its allies on Iraq are being revealed, and American officials themselves acknowledge that the suspicion of nuclear weapons on which Iraq was invaded was unfounded. Even after acknowledging this mistake, American officials are not sorry, because now America has an orthodox control on Iraq’s oil reserves.

In the same way, in the name of ending al-Qaida’s influence, Afghanistan was also destroyed with the purpose of cleaning this Muslim country’s hands of the mineral-rich treasures, which they did through their puppet, Karzai. Furthermore, they were bestirred because they also had their jealous eyes on Iran’s oil reserves, even though the Shah’s policies of American independence made Iran the apple of America’s eye. Also, Pakistan pricks like a needle in America because the buried treasures of natural metals and minerals in its tribal areas are not accessible. If Muslim countries, united under one platform, use the power of owning this treasury of natural resources as a single nation for their prosperity and progress, then the block of Muslims would not only prove their power on a global stage, but would also create a foundation for an Islamic state in the secular world and gain independence from the pressure of imperialism’s cruel system. But, unfortunately, the representative organization of 56 Muslim countries, the OIC, and the Arab League are not only in a rabbit’s dream, they have become the tool of those same oppressive powers, whose main purpose is to destroy the Muslim Ummah. Can there be greater shame than the Arab state, which is associated with the Arab League countries, to partner with America and its allies in the air and naval attacks on Libya and have the intention of killing and burying a fellow Muslim state with their own hands?

There is still time for all Muslim countries to unite and devote themselves wholly to stopping the Western world’s hand of imperialist power and to stop their ambitions to erase the Muslim Ummah from the pages of existence. Otherwise, they will one by one destroy us, using us as an example, and we will be left with nothing but regret and problems.
