Washington Leaves Afghanistan For Taliban

The withdrawal of U.S. troops, its intelligence, Mujahdeen and political concerns

What Obama is currently talking about, if it does occur, will result in similar effects caused by the withdrawal of the Soviet army in the early ’90s. This left Afghanistan to its own fate, leaving the Mujahdeen to fight each other over resources along with the emergence of the Taiban movement, which was assisted by external intelligence support. The external intelligence gathered detailed information about everyone to destroy them later and establish a different regime that does not even come close to the rule of the middle ages. Then came the establishment of al-Qaida by Osama bin Laden. This is the reason for the spread of terror on the globe, which was also strongly aimed at supportive Arab states.

Osama bin Laden has been in America’s reach since 2001. They waited until it was the right time to eliminate him and use it as the reason to pull U.S. troops out of Afghanistan. Moreover, bin Laden’s elimination could be used as the push for Obama’s second presidential win. It will be perceived that he alone was able to do what Bush could not: avenge the thousands of souls killed on that dark day, Sept. 11.

However, if American troops are withdrawing a small group now and the rest later, while the Afghanistan situation is dire and disastrous, the Taliban will still able reach their goals. Al-Qaida is still around and has capabilities to strike its targets in Afghanistan and any other country. The current situation of Afghanistan is as if America has never gone to war and we cannot debate the disasters that will occur after the U.S withdrawal; similar to what has occurred in the early ’90s but in a more tragic way.

As long as they don’t have the intelligence systems, organizations and administrations that can cancel what past administrations have done, the Americans should not leave a country they devoured with all this devastation Afghanistan is now facing. The U.S. should leave only after ensuring Afghanistan’s stability and after an able authority handles its matters and has the capability to defend Afghanistan. A troop withdrawal will bring back crimes as long as the country’s matters are not yet stable. Hammed Kharazai, who is involved in corruption up to his ears, is not able to patrol and protect his own palace, which is a constant targeted by Taliban and al-Qaida.

Osama bin Laden was not the only danger threatening the U.S. and other countries. What proves this is that even with the elimination of bin Laden it did not rid Afghanistan from the Taliban and it did not rid the world from al-Qaida. The most important leader might be gone, but the international terror web still exists. This means that any withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan all at once or in portions will result into violence that will turn Afghanistan into a worse state than what it was in the early 90’s. This will turn Afghanistan into a huge terror base and to a permanent ticking time bomb.

What is out of the ordinary is that Iraq’s security situation is a thousand times better than the situation in Afghanistan! However, that is because the Americans have actively pressured the different Iraqi factions to push Washington to keep its invading forces in Iraq, under the pretext that chaos and terror would quickly return if America withdrew. The reality confirms that this fact is certain. The Americans only know their interests and after satisfying all their interests, they will not hesitate one moment to leave behind their closest friends to face their own destiny alone. The important thing to the Americans is their interests and nothing but their own interests.
