Clinton: ‘Normal’ Candidate Goes to Fast Food Joint with 007-Style Protection

Hillary has left New York to make her first appearance in Iowa, the state that rejected her in 2008 and relegated her to third place (behind Obama and Edwards) in the first Democratic caucus. She chose to go by bus rather than by jet, so as not to seem ridiculous from the outset. In her campaign launch video, released last Sunday, she said she is a normal American who wants to be the champion of everyday people – and everyday Americans don’t have private jets. They take the highway, stop for gas, and eat in fast food joints. She is always ridiculous (the hypocrisy here is obvious: she has federal agents as drivers and escorts, waiting on her as befits the former first lady and former secretary of state), yet this excessive populist pauperism is not obvious to everyone, and the Democrats have learned to make an art of it – like Obama and his “class redistribution” and “social justice” by way of taxes and welfare.

In the end, people lap up most, if not all of it, and it is the proclaimer of proclamations that wins, even if those proclamations are horribly false and misleading. Speaking of which, the latest news of “these shameless liberals,” which had me splitting my sides laughing today, concerns an old Obamian proclamation of great success. You will all remember Obama’s campaign against Mitt Romney, based on the GOP candidate being a financial speculator who co-founded the private equity firm Bain Capital and got rich at the expense of its fired workers? Well, hired to run a division of the very same Bain Capital, says The Wall Street Journal, is Deval Patrick. The former governor of Massachusetts (his term in office ended last January) is not just a Democrat but a close African-American friend of Barack Obama, who used phrases from his friend’s inaugural speech (made upon election as governor in 2006) for a victory rally speech in 2008. Now, Patrick has a well-paid position at Bain, a company created by rival Romney. The nerve!

How can we be surprised, then, when Hillary – a millionaire – tries to don the rags of a “normal” woman? She tries, but she’ll have to do better and then some if she wants to win over today’s unionized and filo-communist crowds, spreading like a disease through the party that used to belong to John F. Kennedy. JFK was part of a dynasty of millionaires that Clinton could only dream of, but he represented a postwar America that still hungered to establish itself in the world with a capitalist plan: cut taxes to favor the country’s economic growth, while respecting the Constitution that protects individual freedoms.

Now, however, the Working Families Party is becoming an ever-increasing political weight on the dirigistic, tax-and-spend supporting Democratic Party. It is so influential in New York, for example, that its “puppet,” de Blasio, (a description uttered by Clinton’s people) has refused to endorse Hillary’s presidential bid. The mayor was even sworn in by Bill Clinton when elected 15 months ago – that’s how tight the relationship between the two families was. Now, he has responded saying, “No, not until I see … an actual vision of where she wants to go” – a slap in the face that marks the strong tensions between the Democrats.

Naturally, Clinton will not have a problem saying everything she needs to, to get the Democratic nomination if, in the months to come, a rival “champion” like Warren takes to the field, or whoever else has the support of public sector unions, the WFP, de Blasio, George Soros and the other Wall Street and Hollywood billionaires “united” by Ms. Liberal of Political Correctness. With the army of advisers she will be able to afford, thanks to a record-breaking collection of $2.5 billion her people claim they can source (doubling Obama’s), Clinton will surely have speechwriters who can cater to her needs. Her problem – and here we see why she has created a strategy whereby she only faces exchanges with small, preselected audiences and very few free meetings with the press – is that when flying solo, she only creates disasters. She is worse than Michelle Obama, who was told to shut up in 2008 by Obama’s staff, after saying, “for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country” because her husband was winning the primaries.

Hillary does not have the charisma, or even a tenth of the political oratory skills of her husband. The collection of blunders already let slip by the former secretary of state is a full one, and the latest “gaffe” slipped out just as she was venturing into anti-capitalist terrain. In a rally about six months ago, she wanted to show she could behave like Warren: “Don’t let anybody tell you that, you know, it’s corporations and businesses that create jobs,” she said before a public ally. No, Hillary, we all know corporations are only good for paying upwards of $300,000 to hear a speech from you or your husband and for pouring millions of dollars into the Clinton Global Initiative, despite the conflicting interest.

  1. It will be impossible for Harpy Hillary to sell herself to the politically literate individuals of the American working class. But I notice both Hillary and more ” radical ” Senator Warren fancy themselves champions of the ” struggling middle class “. You rarely hear an intelligent clarification of ” middle class “. The American ruling class want you to think that if you are not jobless, starving, and homeless in America, and have a spark of ambition in life, you are CERTIFIED MIDDLE CLASS.
Whole books have been written by dedicated socialists on this lack of class consciousness here -even when we are told all about the ONE PERCENT in the capitalist press.
