Cynical Walls

Europe has its Donald Trumps, too. It’s just that while for the time being, the ultra-reactionary contender for the Republican presidency threatens to build a wall around the U.S., so that not even an “illegal” mosquito can get through, those sharing the same views in Europe already have the mortar at the ready in order to upgrade the walls into wired fences — why not make them electrified, guys? — to keep the enemy out; to not have the Easterners set foot in Central Europe some centuries late; and first and foremost, for “Christianity not to be harmed” (how many more atrocities are going to take place in your name, Christ?) by the Muslims.

Soon enough, and with the haste that prisoners and soldiers are forced to work with, satellites will record from high above a Europe cut into enclosed nation units with its “Cynical Walls,” raised by the nationalist tribalism of various petty leaders, antagonizing the Chinese wall. Yet, the escape from the hell in Asia and Africa — a hell that was co-created by some European powers, loyal to their interests and to the interests of the “Great Guide,” the U.S. — will continue. We wouldn’t be seeing people determined to risk their lives in seas and rivers, and soon in icy mountains, if it weren’t for this hell, a hell on earth, the only kind that is capable of truly frightening human beings. We wouldn’t be seeing disabled people (maimed by a bullet or a bomb) determined to cross thousands of miles, rain or shine. Escaping is not a trend, as is being said by villains of all nations, with the Golden Dawn arch-Fascists at the very front. This isn’t a game, nor is it a conspiracy by Islam or the Jews to alter the Greek, Hungarian, Croatian or Slovakian identity. I do not know much about identities of other nations. The Greek identity, despite the heavy load that it is being asked to handle unprepared, still stands. It hasn’t been spoiled. The Golden Dawn has not fully risen yet — anything but — regardless of how much its supporters try, assisted by the scaremongering mass media.

Greece gives sympathy and aid with the little that it has. The honorable foreigners, both Western and Eastern, recognize this and bow before the humble people of our land, who humbly offer their help, anonymously. Self-advertised philanthropy is for the other classes. The European identity is not strong, however. It cannot be strong when many of its countries regard it as a river that doesn’t have water flowing through it but euros, from which they can quench their thirst without any obligation, while at the same time ordering Greece to “guard its borders.” That is, to build “sea walls,” with destroyers and submarines. Or should it be with tridents, so that the spectacle can carry a mega drama, so as to move Hollywood and to also move Barack Obama a little bit more. Up until now, he has only been “encouraging” Europe — he, a president of a country that in order to solidify its hegemony dismantled the world.
