If all hell breaks loose in the Middle East, there will be repercussions for us (South Korea).
There is no holier city for Jews, Christians and Muslims, i.e., for a dominant portion of the planet, than Jerusalem, whose praises have been sung of old. Jesus rose from the dead there, the Prophet Muhammad ascended into heaven for a time, and Jews can pray at the Wailing Wall – places where the Lord dwells.
As soon as Trump became president, ardent Israelis rejoiced that they would finally be able to build the third temple on the site of Solomon’s Temple.
If there is a region in the world where tensions could lead to conflicts with terrible consequences, it is the Middle East. Washington, the principal ally of Saudi Arabia and Israel, and Moscow, ally of Iran and Syria, should act soon to lessen the tension.
Nothing better than a good enemy to reconcile lost support, even at the cost of opening an inactive front in the heart of the most troubled region of the world.
The U.S. has done the mullahs a big favor.
