TEHRAN: President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that he would soon send a message on Iran's policies to the American people.

"A large number of Americans have asked me to speak to them, and to explain the opinion of the Iranian nation. Soon this will happen, and I a will send them a message," President Ahmadinejad told a news conference yesterday.

The Iranian President sent an 18-page letter to President Bush in May RealVideo criticizing American policies, but he received no formal reply. President Bush described it as "interesting."

"We want to have good relations with all countries, except one country to which we believe to be illegitimate," Ahmadinejad said, referring to Israel. The Jewish state is not recognized by the Islamic Republic.

President Ahmadinejad added that Iran was ready to talk to the United States, on condition that Washington changes its behavior.

"We have said from the beginning that we will talk with the American government, but only under certain conditions. The conditions concern the attitude of the American government. If they correct their behavior, we will talk to them, like we talk to others," he said.

He also said Iran would soon celebrate its success in exercising its right to master the entire nuclear fuel cycle.

"With the wisdom and resistance of the nation, today our position has stabilized. I'm very hopeful in the current year, we'll be able to hold a huge celebration for Iran's management of restoring its right to full nuclearization," he said. Iran's calendar year ends on March 20.

President Ahmadinejad said that the international community was learning to live with an atomic Iran.

"Initially, they were very angry. The reason was clear: They basically wanted to monopolize nuclear power to rule the world and impose their will on other nations," said the President.

"Today, they have finally agreed to live with a nuclear Iran, with an Iran that possesses the complete nuclear fuel cycle," he said.

VIDEO FROM IRAN: 'AMERICANS

HAVE NO FUTURE IN OUR REGION'

WindowsVideoAl Jazeera, Lebanon: Excerpts from an interview with Hezbullah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, Oct. 31, 00:03:33, MEMRI

"When we were young boys... I cannot forget the sight of the American forces leaving Vietnam in helicopters, which carried their officers and soldiers. Some Vietnamese, who had fought alongside the Americans, tried to climb into these helicopters, but the [Americans] threw them to the ground, abandoned them, and left. This is the sight I anticipate in our region."
