U.S. Builds 'Military Empire Beyond the Ozone Layer'
Is the United Ststes busy creating a 'military space patrol,' which will have the mission of 'attacking the patrol fleets of other nations?' According to this op-ed article from China's military-controlled Jiefang Junbao [People's Liberation Army] newspaper, America has new space commander, and his mission is to create just such a force.

The U.S.
Air Force recently announced the appointment of the first astronaut to become
head of Air Force Space Command, American four-star general Kevin Chilton , following
the retirement of General Lance Lord on April 1 of this year. So what is special
about the U.S. Space Command? Is it really a branch of the armed forces? This has
aroused extensive attention.
[Editor's Note: The Mission of the U.S. Air Force Space Command is: "To defend the United States of America through the control and exploitation of space." They are known as the "Guardians of the High Frontier." Visit their Web Site ].
HAD
THREE TRIPS INTO SPACE
The U.S.
media is not surprised that Chilton was chosen as head of Space Forces Command.
He was generally regarded as the best candidate.
Chilton was
born in November 1954 in Los Angeles. According the NASA Web site, he graduated
with distinction from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1976. He received flight
qualification in 1978 at Williams Air Force Base in Arizona and was assigned to
the No. 15 Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron in Kadena Air Force Base, Japan, flying
RF-4 "Mirage" II fighters. From 1978 to 1980, he served successively
in Korea, Japan, and the Philippines both as a fighter pilot and a part-time trainer.
By 1982 Chilton had become a U.S. Air Force official, serving as an F-15
instructor and flight captain of the No. 9 and No. 7 Tactical Fighter Squadrons
in New Mexico. He accumulated over 5,000 flight hours of flight time in the Air
Force.
In August
1987, Chilton was selected by NASA as an astronaut candidate, and one year
later became an official astronaut. He has had three trips into space, staying
in orbit for a total of 704 hours. In 1998, Chilton became commander of
Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana, and also Joint Functional Component
Commander for Space and Global Strike.
FOR U.S.
TO BECOME DOMINANT IN SPACE
In accepting
the appointment of a Space Force Commander, an excited Chilton said he was very honored to have the job. The U.S. media pointed out
that the challenge not at all be an easy one for Chilton. He currently has at
least two major tasks to address.
The most
important task is finalize the creation of the U.S. Aerospace
Combat Force by 2015. As U.S. President Kennedy once clearly predicted, "he
who controls space, controls the initiative in war." For quite some time,
the United States has regarded a space force as an important element of the
military.
In 1985, the
Americans established the U.S. Joint Space Command. Then on May 9, 2000, the U.S.
Air Force and the Air Force Joint Chief of Staff issued a white paper entitled,
"Aerospace Force: Defending America in the 21st century ." This paper proposed building an Aerospace Combat Force within 15
years, comprising both space and aviation units. According to the USAF report
"Global Engagement: A 21st Century Air Force Vision ,"this aerospace force will be equipped
with the six core capabilities of aerospace superiority: rapid global mobility,
global attack, precision engagement, information superiority and strong combat
support." The Space Combat Force will be made up of 30,000 individuals and
will eventually develop into an independent space force.

According
to the U.S. Aerospace Force Development Plan, the most realistic question currently
on Chilton’s desk is how to ensure the completion of a "space patrol" by 2014. This
patrol will mainly be engaged in the task of combating opponents. According to a
disclosure by Britain's "Sunday Telegraph," this plan (code-named "Veto")
demonstrates the refusal of the U.S. to allow any state to develop space for
military purposes without its consent. According to the plan, the United States
will develop a "space patrol fleet" of military spacecraft. Space in this
instance, will be used mainly to attack the patrol fleets of other nations and
destroy all near-Earth satellites belonging to hostile and competitive countries,
thereby enabling the United States to build a powerful military empire beyond the
ozone layer.
