Supreme Leader Threatens Oil Supply; Attacks White House

Tehran: In a ceremony to mark the 17th anniversary of the demise of Imam Khomeini (may Allah be pleased with him), the leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei, declared Iran’s principled stance in regard to current developments, saying that a united Iranian nation will not allow anyone to intimidate Iranian national interests, and that through the highly-precious legacy of the honorable Imam, the country would achieve the status that it deserves.

Ayatollah Khameni said that the thoughts and views of Imam Khomeini are alive throughout the Iranian nation as well as the Islamic ummah [community]. He said that Imam Khomeini, through his unique character, transformed the Iranian nation into one of the most influential in the world, and the most important nation in the region. The nation, Ayatollah Khameni said, has conquered the great summits of progress and dignity, and has awakened the Muslim world of its role in securing independence from the hegemonic powers, and freedom from the materialization of Islam.

Concerning current international issues, Ayatollah Khamenei denounced as unfounded the Western and Zionist-affiliated media propaganda, which claims that, there is a consensus against Iran, that the Islamic Republic of Iran is a threat to the world, that Iran seeks to build atomic bomb and that human rights are violated in Iran. Ayatollah Khamenei said that allegations of an international consensus against Iran are nothing but the sheer lies of America and some other nations, citing the fact that the 116 members of the Non-Aligned Movement nations support Iran’s courageous effort to possess nuclear technology. At the same time, the Conference of the Islamic Organization, independent governments and even countries under pressure from Washington support the move.

No country, no nation, or sincere official of any country, according to Ayatollah Khamenei, would ever agree to abandon the use of new energy resources, and instead stretch out its hands to a small number of Western nations. He said most nations, by word or in their hearts, approve of the actions of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, and that the agreement of a few monopolistic countries has no value.

The leader of the Islamic Revolution described Iran’s relations with many countries as friendly, adding that Iran poses no threat to other nations, including its neighbors, and is of the same opinion as the Arab countries in regard to the most pressing Islamic-Arab items, such as the Palestinian issue. He said that these are the issues that are closest to the Arab-Muslim heart, and this is why all Islamic-Arab nations take pride in Iran’s position toward the Palestinians.

Referring to the baseless propaganda of the Western media, that Iran wants to build a nuclear weapon, Ayatollah Khamenei said, We have declared at all times that we need not possess atomic weapons, because contrary to America, we don’t seek dominance over the entire world. We have no intention to impose the undue costs of such a goal on our nation, and in addition to this, we consider the use of nuclear weapons to be against Islam and our religious tenets.

Ayatollah Khamenei asserted that Iranian young people and the entire nation are Iran’s real nuclear bombs, which continually persevere by displaying the ultimate power and faith while working in the most difficult fields.

Ayatollah Khamenei called on America’s ruling administration to compare its president and government to Iran’s President and administration, to help it realize its status in the world.

To the American officials, and to the team that is running America today, and has aspirations to lead the world, I have a few things to say. I wish they would listen. I wish they would think. I wish they would understand. I say to them: Compare yourselves to our government. Compare your president to ours. Today, even within America, yours is the most hated government in the history of the United States. Their own surveys revealed this to the entire world. Today, in the view of the American public, the current administration is the most hated in the history of the United States. Compare this to our government. Today, our government is one of the most popular, in the past century, from the constitutional revolution to this day,” the leader of the Islamic revolution said.

Ayatollah Khamenei also touched upon the expressions of disgust and hatred toward the American President by the people different countries, even European and Latin American nations, as well as the mistrust of the American people themselves, as when it emerged that the American leader had spied on the ordinary phone of his own people. He added that the American President, to come to understand his true situation, should compare his state of affairs with the recent visit of the Iranian President to Indonesia, as well as the visits of former Iranian presidents to various countries, during which they received rapturous welcomes.

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to America’s enormous spending in Iraq to bring to power a puppet regime, and the ensuing failure of that country. He also referred to its failure in the Palestinian elections and its bungled attempt to alter the platform of the Lebanese government and nation, asking why Mr. Bush refuses to admit that he has brought about a hatred for America and the American nation, and that his performance has undermined his country.

Ayatollah Khamenei then compared President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s respectful letter to the American President, with an impolite, tactless response of the Americans.

This message did not conform to diplomatic norm, and was full of the kind of conceit that leads to stupidity, and full of threats and absurdities.

If you had been able to harm the Islamic republic, you would not have wasted a single minute in the past 27 years. The former American secretary of state explicitly said that he must uproot the Iranian people. He went to hell, but the Iranian people have grown from day to day.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that an administration responsible for Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib prisons, as well as the criminal acts in Haditha and Kabul and hundreds of other cases has no right to profess support for human rights and combating terrorism.

Referring to American claims that they are able to secure flow of energy in the region, Ayatollah Khamenei asserted, In an attempt to threaten Iran, you claim you can guarantee the flow of energy in this region. You are wrong. If you make the slightest mistake regarding Iran, the flow of energy in this region will surely be jeopardized seriously. You must know this. … You will never be able to guarantee the safe supply of energy in this region.

Referring to the futile propaganda attacks of the enemy against the pillars of the revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Islamic Revolution is invincible, because the Iranian people are truly faithful, and consider it their obligation to safeguard religious values.

Elaborating on the great legacy of the late Imam Khomeini for the Iranian nation, Ayatollah Khamenei touched on political independence, national self-confidence, cultural self-confidence, strong faith and national courage. He also pointed to the alertness of the people and the nation’s officials in the face of their enemies, adding that the Iranian nation would vigilantly and carefully safeguard its vital resources, and by gaining benefits from their use, would build a bright future.

The honorable leader said that with the Iran’s abundant natural and human resources and the backing of the Iranian people, the nation is on the path of progress. Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the innovation and capabilities of Iran’s scientists and researchers, including in the field of nuclear technology, adding that past administrations had provided the basis for the nation’s progress. He said that through further effort and diligence, the present government must profit from the nation’s existing unanimity to speed progress and prosperity, so that Iran achieves the position it deserves.

His Eminence, Ayatollah Khamenei described the rising level of religious faith, the efforts of all officials to materialize justice, and the increasing level of the country’s scientific strength as the keys to the progress of the country, adding that national unity and calmness in the country would secure these keys. For the same reason, those who undermine these keys and weaken Iranian unity by undermining the nation’s security, under the guise of supporting different sects and tribes, actually serve enemy. The leader called on the authorities in charge to identify those being targeted by the enemy and to vigilantly defend the nation’s rights, including the right to security and progress.

The honorable leader said that belief in God, belief in people, belief in the path, and belief in success are the keys to national progress, and warned that the enemies of the nation are prepared to reward those who undermine the faith of the people or disrupt scientific activity at universities and scientific research centers.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that preserving the beautiful tree of the Islamic Republic calls for unity and the dedication of every strata of society, adding that people from all walks of life, the nation’s officials, its political elites, scientific elites, seminarians and academics, as well all others, are among the ummah [community] of the Islamic Republic, and that all who believe in the Imam, the path of the Imam and his testament, must pursue the secure the nation’s dignity and scientific progress, adhere to Iran’s independence and walk the path of national interests.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged people to be careful to maintain unity, that the nation deserves a position of prominence, and that in order to bring this great goal about, the utmost of efforts must undertaken to make real the aspirations of the Imam and the revolution.
