China Requests CNN Sincerely Apologize for Verbal Attack On Its People

Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Jiang Yu stated on the 17th that the Chinese side once again solemnly requests that the U.S. Cable News Network (CNN) immediately retract their vile statements and make a sincere apology to all Chinese people.*

Jiang Yu, during a routine meeting with reporters, answered reporters’ questions regarding the above mentioned statement. She said, regarding CNN’s statement expressed on the 15th, that not only have they not offered a sincere apology for the station presenter Jack Cafferty’s malicious accusations about the Chinese people, but also have taken as a target the Chinese government, attempting to incite disharmony between China’s people and government, this being entirely unacceptable.

She stated that Cafferty’s statement is not only an insult towards the Chinese people; it is also insulting towards humanity’s conscience and the challenge of justice.

“The Chinese people will not be bullied, will not be shamed. We once again sincerely request that CNN solemnly deal with this problem, immediately withdraw their bad remarks, and issue an apology to all people,” Jiang Yu said.

On the night of the 16th, Foreign Ministry Press Secretary Liu Jianchao called CNN’s Beijing branch and sternly discussed the affair of Cafferty’s malicious attack on the Chinese people.

*Editor’s Note–On April 9th, Jack Cafferty, CNN Network Commentator, referred to the Chinese leaders as “a bunch of goons and thugs” and to its products as “junk”.
