Pakistan: Report Says Clerics Urge Nation To Stand Up To Potential U.S. Attack

Bhaira — Qazi Husain Ahmad, amir [chief] of Jamaat Islami [JI] has said that the United States is publicly saying that it does not accept the nuclear program of Pakistan. The entire nation should stand up against the U.S. invasion. The Red Mosque was sprinkled with blood at a single U.S. threat. The people are being scared by the rumors of the Taliban’s capturing Peshawar. The rulers have deposited their plundered booty in foreign banks, and the Pakistani Government is maintaining the economy of the country by borrowing from banks at exorbitant interest rates. They are scared of the United States, instead of God.

He expressed these views, while addressing the JI district convention in the Bakwia Jamia Mosque, Bhaira and in a press conference. Mufti Sahibzada Ibrar Ahmad Bakwi, amir [chief] JI district Sargodha, Dr Mubashir Ahmad Siddiquie and Zubair Gondal were also present on the occasion.

Qazi Husain Ahmad said that we are fighting the U.S. war on terrorism in Pakistan. The increasing unrest in our country is the U.S. policy. He said that we have ourselves worsened the situation on our western borders. The U.S. is achieving its own interests by pitting the Army against the tribes.

He said that there is no government in the country. Musharraf is compliant with U.S. policy. Everything that is happening here is dictated by the United States. The solution to all f our problems lies in acting upon the Holy Quran and Sunnah.

He said that the threat of U.S. intervention in our country has increased. The entire nation will have to stand up unanimously against the United States.

He said that a bloodbath is going on in Swat and Waziristan. We have given permission to the United States to use our air space over a single U.S. threat. It has massacred our own Muslim brethren. The United States is upsetting the balance of power in the region by inciting our neighbor. The incumbent government is a replica of the outgoing government. They are all dancing to Musharraf’s tunes.

While addressing the convention, Liaqat Bloch, amir [chief] of JI Punjab, said that the irresponsible attitude of the political parties represents a perilous threat to the security of the country. Pakistan’s Muslim League-Nawaz [PML-N] is relishing power in Punjab, despite having differences with Zardari. These crooked fellows have trapped the [normal people ?] in a multitude of problems.

Liaqat Bloch said, now the situation is that the Parliament has been paralyzed. The prime minister is not allowed to deliver a speech or make any announcement. The oil prices are constantly increasing in the country, despite the fact that oil has come down to US$123 from US$147 [in the global markets]. Inflation continuously rises.

While talking to journalists, Farid Ahmad Piracha, JI Deputy Secretary, said that the incumbent government has badly failed to solve the problems of the public. Promises to restore judges in 30 days and the giving of relief to the people in 100 days have gone up in smoke. The people are being crushed under the sky-rocketing prices.
