Those Who Allowed Drone Attacks Should Be Brought to Justice

The Lahore High Court has declared that the courts cannot remain silent on the matter of drone attacks because this is purely a matter of human rights.

Drone attacks are silent murderers of humanity. The drone arrives and turns a person into ashes without providing any notice or indication. Even previously, the courts had advised raising the matter of drone attacks at the international level. The parliament also passed resolutions against drone attacks, but the U.S. did not budge on the matter. The previous [Pakistani] government continuously claimed that it had even used stern language in talking to the U.S. about drone attacks, but the latter had failed to listen and put an end to the attacks.

Drone attacks started in the Pervez Musharraf era; Musharraf continuously denied that any official agreement had been made with the U.S. regarding drones. Now, just a few days ago, Musharraf has admitted that the drone attacks were initiated in consultation with us. The court should bring all those to justice who allowed the U.S. to carry out drone attacks, as they are equally guilty in the murder of innocent people.

The U.S. continues to violate our boundaries. The government should withdraw the earlier permission and arrange for ending drone attacks so that peace and order may prevail in Pakistan.
