Trump’s Accomplices

Who is lying? Who is abusing the justice system? Who is endangering democracy? In Trump’s world of alternative facts, the answer is clear.

Donald Trump is a grandmaster at turning the tables. He laid the foundation for his rise about eight years ago when he parried fact checkers’ evidence of his lies by declaring the majority of the media to be part of the fake news machine.

Trump, who in his four years as an erratic commander in chief went through four national security advisors as well as three defense secretaries and repeatedly raised doubts about America’s loyalty to its allies, is selling himself as an anchor of stability in terms of foreign policy after four years of “Biden chaos.” And although Trump tells his audience how he wants to sic the justice system on his opponents, he accuses the Democrats of violating the law — because prosecutors are going after his crimes.

Brutalization? The Democrats Are To Blame!

This weekend in Butler, where Trump portrayed himself as an almost-martyr three months after an assassination attempt, his running mate, JD Vance, reiterated the accusation that Democrats are encouraging extremists when they characterize Trump as a danger to democracy. However, this attempt to pass the brutalization of politics onto the Biden-Harris camp should not be enough.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk claims, rather, that “the other side” wants to take freedom of speech and the right to vote from Americans. He says Trump must win in order to maintain America’s Constitution and democracy.

Yet another turn of the table that Trump’s associates are using to pick at the heart of democracy.
