Helaine Schweitzer

Helaine Schweitzer is Senior Editor of Watching America. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and is an attorney and former newspaper reporter. More recently, she has raised money for higher education and nonprofit agencies, and has been a copyeditor for publications produced by 826 Valencia, an exceptional literacy organization co-founded in 2002 by author Dave Eggers and educator Ninive Calegari. Helaine speaks Spanish, German and Hebrew. She began editing for Watching America in 2014, and considers it a privilege to work with such a talented, thoughtful and engaged team of editors and translators. Helaine holds a B.A. from the University of Rochester and earned her law degree from the University of San Francisco.
