McCain Wants to Exclude the "Autocratic" Russia from the G8

The Republican candidate for the White House had already announced his intention to exclude Russia from the Group of 8 Nations. Sunday, he stated that Vladimir Putin had put his country on “a dangerous path,” that of “autocracy.”

The Republican candidate for the White House, John McCain, who wants to exclude Russia from the G8 summit, stated on Sunday that the country had become an “autocracy.” He added that former president Vladimir Putin had put the country on a “very dangerous path,” on the ABC show This Week.

“We need to improve their behavior,” he declared on ABC, recalling the recent decisions of Russia. John McCain cited “the cut back on oil supplies to the Czechs because the Czechs made an agreement with us, they’ve thrown out (of the oil company) BP out of Russia (…), the enormous pressure on Georgia…, Ukraine,” as well as “blocking action in the United Nations Security Council on Iran.”

“They have become an autocracy,” declared the candidate for the American presidency. “The former president Putin, now the Prime Minister and his government have driven the country onto a very dangerous path,” he continued.

According to him, Vladimir Putin still holds the reins of the country. “I am sure that he is in command. I don’t thnk that he would have chosen his successor [Dmitri Medvedev] if he was not thinking about staying in charge,” said McCain.
