TEL AVIV (SuaraMedia News) – Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, religious leader of Israel’s ultra-Orthodox party Shas and a part of the Israeli governmental coalition, criticized American President Barack Obama on Saturday. He drew a picture of the president as a “slave master” who dominates the world. The rabbi claimed that the president wishes to control Israel by controlling building plans in Jerusalem.
During a Sunday sermon, Yosef protested: “America has ordered Israelis to ‘stop building here, and you cannot build there,’ as if we are slaves that work for her.”
“We live in an age where a slave master is guiding us and is trying to control us,” he added afterwards, while rejecting the U.S.’s request that Israelis halt the building of an illegal settlement in the Palestinian district.
“We are not American slaves … Israel will not work for the United States of America!” Yosef emphasized.
The rabbi then spoke about the issue of Al-Haram Al-Sharif (the Dome of the Rock). “Where is our shrine? Nothing exists except for the Arabs who have occupied our land … And I hope that the Messiah will soon appear to destroy them,” he said, despite the fact that, in reality, Israel has stolen Palestinian land and are the ones who could more accurately be described as the destroyer nation.
Born in Iraq in 1920, Yosef is a retired leader of Rabi Sephardic Israel. He is a well-known character with an ill-favored past, known for his humiliating comments directed at Arabs and Palestinians, calling them “venomous snakes” that “gather like ants.”
He also asked God to send punishment upon the prime minister at the time, Ariel Sharon, who in 2005 pulled the army and residents from the Gaza Strip and Lebanon during the war that lasted from July to August of 2006. He also said that the Israeli army soldiers who died in the war died because they did not follow Jewish command.
In 2000, he ignited angry criticism when he said that the six million Jewish victims of the Nazi Holocaust “died fruitlessly” and that the act was a “reincarnation of the Jews who sinned” in the previous generation.
The sermon of Rabbi Ovadia is often dedicated to the fasting of Tisha B’Av, which will be marked on Thursday. He insisted that reading the Qur’an is prohibited on that day, because this act will void the fasting done. Talmud said that walking with Tisha B’Av is also prohibited.
Instead of learning Taurat, also prohibited, Rabbi Ovadia asks the people to simply study the rituals of mourning, or a book of ethics. Although, according to him, studying Taurat is the only way to bring the Jewish people closer to the coming of the Messiah.
In addition to the controversial rabbi, an Israeli official also insulted the U.S. president in front of the public and through an American and Zionist-controlled media source. Feelings of apartheid and racism in Israel seem to no longer only be directed towards “the evil Arab people” – now it has crossed the line to victimize the president of the United States.
This fact has marked a new form of Israeli attacks against Barack Obama and the government whose wishes have many times forced the Jewish country to stop their settlements on the western edge, in a part of northern Jerusalem that is occupied. Demands have created tension between the two parties that have not been seen before.
Despite the criticism and insults towards the president of America, criticism towards Jewish people and anti-Semitism is not at all tolerated in the U.S. and Europe. Last week, the FBI was threatened with the “anti-Semitic” label after arresting several rabbis in New Jersey. Will America remain silent while Israel labels her president a “slave master” without pushing for a formal apology from the Israeli government? When will America learn the language of the media in order to prevent the future printing of negative, controversial articles by its Zionist-controlled media?
