Sarah Palin is taking a liking to her move into television. John McCain’s former running mate for the 2008 presidential election is entering into reality TV.
This week Sarah Palin met the heads of the major American television stations to present an idea for a docudrama on her state, Alaska, Entertainment Weekly reported. The former governor of Alaska was accompanied by producer Mark Burnett. A bigwig of reality TV, he gave America the small screen Survivor — the American equivalent of Koh-Lanta — and the Apprentice, a show in which Donald Trump recruits from the heart of his group the “apprentice” that he judges to be the most capable, based on interviews and tests.
The presence of Mark Burnett raised a few eyebrows, but the producer cut short any fantasies. The show will not put Palin on air in a bathing suit, nor will it follow her family 24/7. It will in fact be a documentary, inspired by the successful BBC series Planet Earth, which will explore the nature of Alaska. Therefore, the spectator can expect to visit goldmines or fishing boats in the company of Sarah Palin. “The goal is to discover the beauties and charm of Alaska with Sarah Palin,” explained Burnett, who will co-produce the show with the Republican politician.
Sarah Palin, emphasizes someone close to her, is keeping the promise that she made when she left her post as governor. She has become involved in making Alaska more visible. It remains to be seen whether this project will interest the major networks. And if that is the case, when production will begin.
The year 2010 marks the return of Sarah Palin to television. In January, the ex-governor signed a contract with conservative channel Fox News to become a political analyst. The Republican is coming back to her first loves. Holding a degree in journalism, she co-hosted a sports show on channel KTUU-TV at the end of the 1980s. Sarah Palin is not the only member of her family to move to the small screen. Her daughter Bristol, whose pregnancy was the talk of the town during the 2008 campaign, is going to play her own part on the ABC series The Secret Life of the American Teenager, which addresses adolescent pregnancies.
