Here is Elie Wiesel, who claimed to have survived the Holocaust and won the Nobel Peace Prize, as well as Hollywood actor George Clooney, emerging to put pressure on the so-called international community (represented here by America and Europe) to intervene in Darfur. Elie Wiesel declared: “There is no choice but to act in defense of defenseless people. ... Those who commit genocide must not be allowed to hide behind national borders and claims of sovereignty.” As for George Clooney, he announced that “It is vital that we all speak candidly about what is happening, and about what it will take to bring an end to the suffering of so many millions of people.” Thus, the intervention of international forces in Sudan occurred.
During the last visit George Clooney paid to the White House, he met with the president as if he were a private investigator who sought to ensure a White House intervention into the affairs of Sudan in favor of secession. He came out declaring to reporters after the meeting that Obama is the most interventionist U.S. president in this country’s affairs (al-Rai, Oct. 14, 2010). If this Clooney is not a Zionist, he is a Likud member, and if he is not a Likud member, he must then be a founding member of the Yisrael Beiteinu party led by Avigdor Lieberman. Were he otherwise, he would demand that the president intervene in the affairs of Israel to force it to put international resolutions into operation and abandon its policy of aggression, rape and genocide of an innocent people, the rightful owner of the land and country that Israel has been raping. (Ironically, Clooney has been selected to play the role of Saladin in a movie to be produced soon.)
When Elie Wiesel and his gang as well as George Clooney and his entourage succeeded in the occupation of Darfur by the international forces, they turned their attention to acting against (a nuclear) Iran. Thus, in a message to the so-called Wiesel Foundation for Humanity (March 6, 2010 issue) addressing the heads of the United States, France, Russia, Britain, Germany and others, signatories like him called for the presidents to urgently utilize their status and authority to put an end to the regime in Iran because the situation there was not improving. Instead, it was getting worse every day because the nuclear, irresponsible and crazy aspirations of the brutal and oppressive regime of the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Ahmadinejad threaten the whole world.
William Cook, a professor of English at the University of Southern California, commented: “Could it be part of the Israeli Reut Institute’s directions to the Israeli government.... Could it be that the “Foundation for Humanity” has been commandeered to partake in the Israeli government’s public relations blitz that is currently saturating the European and American theaters? Could this be an attempt to capitalize on the internal unrest in Iran to direct the people of the world away from the oppression and occupation of the West Bank and Gaza?... What happens if we substitute the nation of Israel for the nation of Iran in the text? “The situation in Israel is not improving; in fact, it is worsening every day. The cruel and oppressive regimes of Sharon, Olmert, and now Netanyahu, who maintain an arsenal of nuclear weapons, not just an 'ambition' to possess one, threaten the entire world.” (Ibid.)
It seems that Elie Wiesel and George Clooney have not heard of the Israeli Holocaust, which continued for more than half a century against the Palestinian people, and the U.S. Holocaust against the people of Iraq. Otherwise, the human rights that they claim to believe are equal among all the peoples (?) would have led them to put pressure on Israel and the U.S. in order and stop them! In this double standard policy, they are like a blacksmith’s dogs that do not hear the sound of hammers in the shop — the voice of the Holocaust in Palestine and Iraq in this context. Rather, they hear the sound of the invisible chewing of food, like the fall of a primitive rocket from Gaza that does not hit the target in the wasteland of raped Palestine, and thus they wake up and set out barking....
