Americans Don’t Know the Meaning and Value of Dialogue

People as individuals have their interests, hopes, projects, plans, goals and aspirations. Since individuals are the basis of a nation, it is the social development of a human being as an individual that is the precise instrument on which nations and civilizations’ know-how in all countries on the planet have been built. There is no doubt that the deepness and extension of the histories of certain nations can be a trustworthy indicator of their right to be proud of their heritage, roots, and civilization. That allows them to have a unique power to cope with all events and developments with nothing but awareness and understanding, while relying on the culture rooted in their lives.

This allows us to say that it is absurd to compare the Syrian people, whose civilization goes back to nearly ten thousand years, with the people of the United States, whose civilization does not go back more than three hundred years. The United States is known as a mixture of various nationalities, colors, races, and cultures that met on newly discovered land to eliminate its original owners and build a hybrid civilization and aggressive state under the disguise of slogans of freedom, democracy, human rights and other hypocrisy. At the same time, this country is itself far from application of these slogans because the Americans, of all people in the world, do not know the meaning and value of dialogue in the global discourse. That is why they always refuse any national dialogue that can lead to solving the problems existing in other countries and the establishment of real democracy beyond the U.S. hegemony. The clearest example of it is a continuing American misgiving of the success of any comprehensive national dialogue in Syria, and the placement of many obstacles to prevent such a dialogue, even if it is at the expense of the innocent Syrian blood.

To be sure that the American people do not know of dialogue and that they replace it with other means, including arms, in order to resolve internal and external problems, let us go back to a few details of United States history – from its inception until today – in which we will find enough evidence and proof of what we’re talking about:

The first settlers on American soil, especially those coming from Britain and the European countries, were mostly adventurers seeking wealth and control over foreigners, or they were convicts fleeing their sentences and prisons. Their main goal was to eliminate the American Indians who were the original land owners so they could not compete for control over the land and wealth. That is why the settlers did not turn to a dialogue with the Indians in order to agree on a common way of living and sharing wealth and existence while setting up a new state, but resorted to a war of total and organized extermination that spared only a small number of those who were then spread out in a few remote mountainous areas.

During the Civil War between the North and South, which lasted many years and claimed the lives of tens of thousands of Americans, and which aimed to impose control over one party by the other, no dialogue occurred that would end military operations, and bloodshed occurred between them. It continued until the victory of one party, imposing its control and ideology on the other.

Most Americans of African descent, who make up the highest percentage of the American people sharing the same origins, after two centuries of adopting a fake American civilization in a new society, started speaking the language of arrogance and conceit which they adopted with their new lives in spite of the subjugation, bloodshed and inhumanity that their ancestors were put through when they were brought by the first European settlers to be used as slaves in exploiting the wealth of the new land. There are many examples to prove it.

Wars fought by the United States around the world were not preceded by any dialogue and were always pursued with the language of force and military domination. The wars have been waged in order to gain control over other countries in hopes of obtaining their wealth, to control the destiny of other peoples and to confirm an American idea that was always present but grew even stronger after the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union — that the United States is the only power on the surface of the Earth that has the right to control whoever it wants to, and to impose its influence wherever and however it wants to. This rationale pushed it to the invasion of Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and others, killing millions of people around the world using direct means like dropping atomic bombs on two Japanese cities and indirect means like conspiring, recruiting agents and mercenaries to overthrow political regimes and to remove presidents and governments by force. Even U.S. defeats in Vietnam, Iraq and Latin America, as well as Americans’ humiliating withdrawal from the invaded countries, occurred as a result of a resistance, not a dialogue.

The logic of force as a replacement for dialogue is prevalent in American society and has been controlling the lives of Americans since the inception of the United States. An American resorts to the use of weapons to solve even the simplest problems. History of the American West is filled with facts that prove it. The current political system with two political parties – Republican and Democrat – switching power, proves that exclusivity is the dominant feature. That is why we do not hear about the dialogue and harmony between the two parties in order to govern together and share power. In the U.S., the function of the prime minister does not exist, so he could not question the president, or participate in governing and decision-making.

U.S. cooperation with international organizations such as the United Nations General Assembly, the Security Council, UNESCO, the Human Rights Council, other (institutions) and countries is based on domination, not on a dialogue and listening to each others opinions. Sometimes it even resorts to boycotts and extreme decisions, especially if Israel is a party in the problem with these organizations or states.

There is no dialogue with countries that violate American opinion and policy, such as Syria, Iran, Cuba, Venezuela and so on, only accusations, conspiracies, threats, sanctions and even attacks if the justification is available. Even allies, followers and clients are not immune to being abandoned by the United States when there is no more need of them, as happened with Tunisia, Egypt and other countries.

Thus, we can conclude that the true reason behind the U.S. conspiracy against Syria, its rejection of all ongoing reforms, and its efforts to prevent a comprehensive national dialogue along the whole spectrum of the Syrian people. The dialogue would end this universal terrorist war and the mobilization of vindictive media against the Syrians, and instead would lay the foundations for Syrian democratic pluralism able to defeat the Americans and their followers. Saudis, neo-Ottomans and their likes, must outdo them at their own game, and reveal that the democracy of these people, especially of the United States, is a big lie that will not deceive anyone any longer.
