The United States Is Trying to Strike ALBA, They Are Warning in Nicaragua

The United States is trying to strike the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) because their social model threatens the imperial North American hegemony, affirmed today by well-known Nicaraguan political analyst William Grigsby.

The Director of Radio La Primerísima (The First-Ever Radio) cautioned in the capital that North American government’s recent suspension of an economic dispensation to Nicaragua cannot be seen as isolated from the coup d’état which just occurred in Paraguay, nor as isolated from the tensions in Bolivia and Ecuador.

This does not exclude Venezuela, where the opposition, or the loser of the presidential elections, says that it is unaware of the results and intends to create chaos. It has declared this in statements on channel 4.

The previous Saturday, Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega disavowed the validity of the United States’ employment arguments to not grant the dispensation to this Central American nation after all international agencies have certified the contrary.

Grisby considered the recall of the dispensation a political decision, not a technical one. Since Nicaragua has never economically affected the interests of the United States, the decision cannot be understood except as a perceived as alienation in the interest of the Nicaraguan opposition.

According to the analyst, this sector does not have well-known strengths, establishments or programs. It relies only on the United States, where other oppositions continuously put pressure on the government against Venezuela, Cuba and the ALBA, even though this regional body is one of solidarity rather than military power.

The reaction in Nicaragua is that they are not going to give the money to the people, but to those who conspire against the nation, concentrated in non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to which there are 15 million dollars assigned, Grisby explained.

However, only $3 million will be given to the Nicaraguan state, so will the NGOs employ the North American money? It will serve to orchestrate a media machine that has demonstrated strength and influence, Grisby specified.

The analyst also recalled that the United States has been the cause of severe social and economic damage in Nicaragua throughout many stages of its history. Nonetheless, Nicaragua at present retains excellent business relations with the United States and respects the interests of its businesses.

In the reporter’s discretion, the recall of the dispensation to Nicaragua is a political decision taking place during the U.S. electoral campaign which, like other policies in the continent, appears to be aimed at the ALBA, whose mechanism has permitted it to reduce poverty in member countries in the last few years.

The success of the sound economic model that appeals to an individual effort and a supportive confluence complements the nations — the analyst concluded — contradicts the interests of the hegemony, such as taking advantage of Nicaraguan dependence.
