Analysts believe that the outraged reaction of Arabs on the street to the American film, which is offensive to the Prophet (peace be upon him), is the second wave of Arab revolutions, especially in countries where revolutions have been successful, such as Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Yemen. The first wave was limited to local and internal affairs: the demand for freedom, dignity, social justice, democracy and transfer of power. Even if the revolutions accomplished these goals (or most of them), the second wave has begun, and is focused on external affairs and foreign policy. With this hateful and disgusting film, audiences have found an opportunity to adjust their relationship with Washington and remind Americans of their hostile stance toward Arab and Islamic concerns, especially regarding the Palestinian issue. As one Moroccan woman expressed, "We want to remind Washington of its crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan and the crimes of its ally Israel in Palestine, and tell them it's time to straighten out their policy. Enough with the double standards."
No one has acknowledged that we completely reject and condemn the acts of violence that accompanied these demonstrations and killed the U.S. Ambassador to Libya and three employees of the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi. These are not the ethics of Islam and Muslims in any respect, and only serve the enemies of Islam who work to brand Muslims as terrorists. However, we also believe that what has happened and is continuing to happen will force Washington and the West to take a more objective stance and a radical solution. After mounting a campaign of hatred against Islam and Muslims, becoming cynical and repeatedly insulting the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in Western media whenever the enemies of Islam and Muslims desired, the Zionists have achieved their malicious goals.
If only Washington and the EU would enact laws prohibiting the denigration of prophets and religious symbols, similar to those which prohibit the denial of the Jewish Holocaust. After the cartoons of the Prophet that were published by a Danish illustrator in 2005, is this not enough to stop the cycle of hate, abhorrent racism and libel against the Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him)? After seeing the outraged reactions of Arab and Islamic peoples, America and the West are called upon to enact a law deterring those who hate and their opinions, like Reverend Jones, and take a fresh approach based on respect for Prophets and religious beliefs. They will be the first to suffer by continuing with this immoral, racist approach, and their interests will be at risk.
In short, the Arab people started the second wave of revolutions — a wave destined to correct the course of foreign policy, especially with Washington and the Western nations. This wave is based on the principle of equality and recognition of Arab rights, particularly the right of the Palestinian people in their homeland.
Does Washington heed the voices of these people, or does it remain hostage to Zionist mythology?
