The US Pre-Electoral Mess

Americans believe the country is heading in the wrong direction. The aging star Madonna promised (or actually threatened) to undress on stage if Obama wins in the November election. Everybody breathed a sigh of relief when it turned out that at a recent concert, she stripped only to proudly show a tattoo saying “OBAMA” just above her buttocks. In a monologue filled with curses, she encouraged people to vote for the “Black Muslim in the White House,” who bravely fights for gay rights…

Four years ago, Obama was a shining star and a hope for a weary America. He promised jobs for the unemployed, he pledged to cut the deficit in half, he assured there would be peace in the Middle East, the end of wars. He even promised to save the planet from global warming and assured Americans they would again be safe and proud of their country.

As of today, the Obama administration’s balance sheet looks quite sad. He did not manage to cut the deficit down during his term, but multiplied it several times. The unemployment rate, instead of at the promised 6 percent, had been over 8 percent for about 25 months, and more than 3 million Americans became unemployed. America’s prestige abroad has fallen to a lower level than during the Bush years, and the cursed Gitmo in Cuba has not been closed. Gasoline cost $1.84 when Obama took office; now, it is about $4.00. Let’s look at the unemployment rate: Whites — 7 percent, Latinos — 10 percent, Blacks — 14 percent (unfortunately, getting a job is affected by one’s level of education).

Banks received huge stimuli but made little of the help. Trade unions became co-owners of car companies, maintaining radically high wages and retirement benefits, and at the same time pretending they could compete on a global market. That is not all, however. Contrary to claims about the Federal Reserve’s independence, it has just begun implementing another stimulus so that Obama can avoid a drop in the economy with the elections approaching. That is why the Federal Reserve buys $40 billion worth of “bad” loans from banks every month — monthly for an indefinite time…

Obama would be poorly off had his competitor been a charismatic Republican leader. However, Obama’s Chicago gang kept its presence of mind having had attacked “wooden” Romney, presenting him in an unfavorable light before he could say his first words. It seems sensible since Obama cannot talk about his achievements — because he has none.

If a forester runs up a debt on his lodge (an average family in the U.S. is saddled with a debt of $130,000 while in, for instance, Spain, it is $60,000) and his only success is a hunted deer’s head (Osama bin Laden) hanging proudly above the fireplace, the said forester becomes a megalomaniac (that is, goes wild and lives far in the woods) or shoots his ego with his debt-ridden shotgun…

Obama, however, is still polling well, maintaining a slight advantage over, or a draw with, the other candidate, Mitt Romney. The president is being relaxed about issues of national importance and runs with sweat on his brow from one TV program to another to hit home with as many voters as he possibly can. His next hobby is collecting money for the campaign. In short, he cares for an image that so far has given him good ratings. That is, the image of a nice, smiling and handsome man; a good husband and father, a caring statesman. The strict conservative who continually scares the poorer part of society, caring only for the interests of the rich: Mitt Romney.

The faithful journalists who are fascinated by Obama’s personality (officially 75 percent of them all) have already declared him a winner, even though there are still a few days left until the first debate. Even the smallest slip by Romney is highlighted all day by Obama’s professional committees and experts, while even more serious blunders by Obama disappear from TV news and headlines.

It would seem that the recent aggressive anti-American incidents in the Middle East might hinder Obama’s ratings, but he seems to be a man of steel. His daring political changes in this part of the world led to breakups with allies, thus opening a gate for long-suppressed local movements linked to radical Islam.

As we all witnessed, an outburst of fury hit the U.S. embassies in Islamic countries. Protesters tossed stones and insults, burned American flags and raised black flags of the “winning” al-Qaida. Most memorable was the attack on the consulate in Benghazi, where Christopher Stevens and three other Americans were murdered.

It is astonishing that Obama’s government adopted a strategy of pretending that the violent protests were not aimed at the U.S. or Obama himself (yet, his effigies were not burned just to warm the place up), but were just an expression of the holy Muslim outrage caused by a trailer (that has been online since July) made by an amateur Copt filmmaker from California.

Obama with his spokesmen wanted to completely forget that the wave of protests occurred exactly on the anniversary of 9/11. An utterly illogical statement by the Obama administration was that the ambassador’s assassination in Benghazi happened in a spontaneous protest. It is difficult to conceive that a person would take lethal weapons like a rocket-propelled grenade and a mortar “just in case”…

In other news, Romney revealed his income tax statement showing that he paid 14.1 percent in taxes. Actually, the Republican candidate spent 30 percent of his income on charity in one year, which is 1,000 times more than Vice President Joe Biden spent in a decade! Thanks to the heated exchanges between the two campaigns, we learned that 49 percent of the population does not pay federal income taxes, while 10 percent of the richest Americans pay as much as 70 percent of all federal income taxes.

If Romney wins, America will observe a huge economic boom. He is good at business and promised that he would make the U.S. an energy self-sufficient country. All of his efforts would be aimed at ensuring jobs for the currently unemployed.

Unfortunately, for the last four years of “benevolent” Obama’s governance, it has been common to blame the rich for every misfortune and the financial crisis. The archenemy is not al-Qaida but the vile millionaire (it sounds like the beginning of a theory on class struggle). It has been calculated, though, that even if millionaires were taxed 100 percent, it would allow the government to pay for its spending for only three months. And then what? What is further down the path to the left-wing heaven? These numbers seem ridiculous and sad to us because we [the Polish people] have been through it all…

The first debate is just a few days away, and we will see what Mitt Romney is capable of. Will he manage to equal his performance in Florida where he unexpectedly beat the outspoken Newt Gingrich? Soon, we’ll see…
