Pakistani PM Asks US to Stop Drone Attacks
U.S. Ambassador Richard Olson met with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and discussed matters of mutual interest. The prime minister of Pakistan once again repeated the demand that American drone attacks be stopped.
Under the cover of attacking terrorists, the U.S. is conducting drone attacks on the security and independence of Pakistan. Hundreds of innocent people have been killed so far in the drone attacks, as the U.S. itself has admitted.
If the U.S. would inform the Pakistani government about the presence of these terrorists, Pakistan would be prepared to take action against them; even now the Pakistani army, as America's frontline ally, is engaged in the war to stop terrorism. In this war we have sacrificed the lives of 45,000 individuals and have borne a financial loss of over $70 billion.
The U.S. should now take some care about our security also. Pakistan has to bear the brunt of the problems — taking the form of suicide attacks and bomb explosions — being created in our country as a result of the drone attacks. Furthermore, a bad example is being set for the future of mutual relations.
The U.S. should have regard for our security and independence and put an immediate stop to drone attacks because they are leading to anarchy in the country. The prime minister's demand to the American ambassador is in complete accord with the wishes of the people. It is hoped that the U.S. will give serious consideration to this. Also, Pakistan needs to remain firmly committed to its stance.
