The American High Commissioner

In July 2011, I had the honor of reading a statement refusing to replace U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Margaret Scobey with Anne Patterson.

It warned of the dark history of Columbia and Pakistan and refused to accept her appointment as ambassador to Egypt.

We did not know that Patterson was a former member of the international terrorist organization the Muslim Brotherhood. Nor did we know that she would support Morsi, and in reality, Assem Abdel Majid, the retired terrorist.

Today, a steady drumbeat of news about the appointment of Robert Ford as successor to Patterson confirmed what we warned and proved: That she was part of a terrorist organization, traveling the world to carry out its will.

We again warn and affirm that Ford’s record is packed. Most notably, he was the sectarian engineer who ignited civil wars in Iraq and Syria, sent the right of people’s self-determination up in flames and chose the country’s president and representatives at whim.

Looking at the history of Robert Ford, we begin by examining his performance as deputy chief of the United States’ mission in Iraq from 2004 to 2006 to promote sectarian strife and entrench the American occupation. He then took up his post as U.S. Ambassador to Algeria from August 2006 to June 2008. It should be noted that Algeria’s security was severely tense in this period.

In 2010 Obama nominated him as the U.S. ambassador to Syria, during which time he was accused of being one of the primary conspirators in the deteriorating situation in Syria.

The lesson from all of this is that U.S. policy does not change with ambassadors, but that the ambassadors vary according to American policy. The ambassador is only one of the tools that implement foreign policy, and the U.S. is only looking for an expert that performs his or her tasks professionally. So one wonders, will America itself ignite a fire in Cairo? Will the flames be stoked by another undesirable policy?

The truth is that the Egyptians proved to America that they are stronger than any scheme which seeks to destroy a civilization which has lasted for thousands of years. The Egyptians have evolved in their perception of democracy after the events of June 30 and then the country gave America’s government a slap in the face when it decided to overcome its oppressors. Although America wants a cold war with the newest Egyptians, the next blow the Egyptians give will be popular and creative.

With this, we look forward to the next round, but be vigilant on your own land and we will continue to be Egypt, the mother of civilization.
