Instead of Conducting Drone Attacks, US Should Provide Information on Targets to Pakistan’s Army

According to a news agency report, U.S. drone aircraft fired two missiles at a shop in the area of Doga Madakhel, in the district of Datta Khel.

This is the third U.S. drone attack since the start of the Zarb-e-Azb operation. Although the U.S. drone attacks were successful in attacking intended targets, the U.S. should not be conducting drone attacks while the Zarb-e-Azb operation is being carried out in North Waziristan, as the attacks could cause disruption in the operation.

Pakistan’s army is carrying out the Zarb-e-Azb operation with great success at this time. The areas of Boya and Digaan have been cleared, while door-to-door searches are being carried out in Mir Ali also. Under the circumstances, the U.S. should help Pakistan’s army by sharing information; more positive results will be obtained if Pakistan’s army itself attacks the targets in the course of its efforts to clear the area.

According to the report from an American think tank, 66 percent of Pakistanis are against the drone attacks.
