Donald Trump: America’s Best Enemy

Donald Trump is the dream candidate for authoritarian leaders who want to see the U.S. sink, and there is no end in sight for his delusions.

For all those complaining about the leaden sky looming over France, we recommend taking a look at what is happening in the United States: There, things are far from dull. At the presidential election on Nov. 8, Americans will have to choose between a candidate who makes grave errors and one who is abysmally incompetent, between a woman who has no drive, and a man who triggers one scandal after another.

Indeed, Donald Trump just received praise from the North Korean government, following that which he received from Vladimir Putin, who, in December 2015, commended a “very bright and talented man.” The Republican candidate is close to absurdity, yet the incredible way in which he rides the wave of ignorance among the masses has earned him the amused — and very interested — support of America’s best enemies.

Trump: A ‘Wise Politician,’ According to Pyongyang

Criticizing South Korea for taking unchecked advantage of the United States, Trump has threatened, on several occasions, to remove American troops (around 30,000 men) from the country if Seoul does not pay a greater share of the costs for their deployment. This is much to the delight of Pyongyang. Government newspaper Rodong Sinmun sang the American billionaire’s praises, describing him as “wise”, whereas Hillary Clinton was deemed “thick-headed.”

The regime’s propaganda site, DPRK Today, went a step further by stating that “it turns out that Trump is not the rough-talking, screwy, ignorant candidate they say he is, but is actually a wise politician and a prescient presidential candidate.”

And let’s not forget another small detail: Last January, North Korea hailed the creation of “milestone miracles with the magnificent and exhilarating sound of the first H-bomb of [his] republic” (Kim Jong Un). Six months ago, around the same time, Trump declared the North Korean leader was without a doubt a “madman,” but that “you’ve got to give him credit” because, despite his youth, he had been able to assert his power over so many generals.

Pyongyang is amused, and Moscow is guffawing, but Donald Trump, whose competence is well below the level required for a president, is continuing to make progress. No doubt Vladimir Putin thinks that if Trump is elected, he’ll make short work of him, particularly as far as large international cases are concerned.

Hillary Clinton: Trump’s Stopping Point

In April, the billionaire did not hesitate to qualify NATO as an “obsolete” organization and to vilify its members, whom he claims do not contribute enough to expenses: “We are protecting them, giving them military protection and other things, and they’re ripping off the United States. And you know what we do? Nothing.” Trump is the dream candidate for authoritarian leaders who want to see the United States sink, and there is no end in sight for his delusions. His stopping point is in fact the problem, as it is none other than Hillary Clinton.

Faced with the demagogue’s insults, the Democratic candidate looks as if she’s trying to stop a ship from sinking beneath the waters of stupidity. Running around trying to plug the leaks, she is making the case against her adversary with an invariable time lag. As a result, she looks as though she is on the defensive, given that it is always Trump who chooses the grounds of controversy. She rushes in, denouncing his great incompetence and arguing that her Republican opponent is “not someone who should ever have the nuclear codes.”

But such retorts do not really constitute a battle plan. Paralyzed with contradictions, Hillary Clinton is restricted to an anti-Trump campaign. Whereas her adversary definitely has the inside track, for some reason, she is short of breath. Condemned to verbal inflation — not really her forte — she is struggling. At the end of the day, her best chance of winning still lies in the fabric of nonsense woven by her opponent.
