Courageous Speech for Hillary Clinton by Pakistani American Khizr Khan

At the Democratic National Convention convened by the Democratic Party to nominate Hillary Clinton as its candidate for president, Khizr Khan, the father of U.S. soldier Humayon Khan, who was of Pakistani origin, vented heavy criticism of Donald Trump. He advised Trump to read the U.S. Constitution and urged people to vote for Hillary, who has applied balm to wounds, rather than vote for Trump, who has spread hatred against Muslims.

Addressing the Democratic Party’s convention in Philadelphia, Khan, whose son, Humayon, was a U.S. military captain killed in Iraq, took a firm stand to express the innermost feelings of U.S. Muslims in a manner that was praiseworthy.

He rightly described Muslims living in the U.S. as peaceful citizens who love their country, America, who observe its constitution and its laws and who serve and make sacrifices for it. Khan also expressed appreciation for the liberty and freedom that the U.S. Constitution accords them. He called out to the Republican Party presidential nominee Trump to say that instead of fanning hatred against Muslims, Trump should study the U.S. Constitution, under which Muslim citizens are identified as Americans and solely as Americans. There is no mention of color or race. Khan appealed to Muslims residing in the U.S. to vote for Clinton in the forthcoming elections.

Because of his hate-provoking rhetoric and the fact that he is conducting a hate-provoking campaign against Muslims, sympathy for Trump has decreased not only among Muslims, but also in the hearts of local American citizens. It remains to be seen how influential the votes of Muslims will prove in the forthcoming presidential elections for America’s new leader.
