Clinton’s Bizarre Comeback

The plummeting approval ratings of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are producing some strange fruit. Hillary Clinton is back in the conversation again. That alone demonstrates the magnitude of the crisis.
It’s no joke: Some Democrats are mentioning Hillary Clinton as a potential candidate for president in 2024; first and foremost her husband, Bill Clinton. Former Secretary of State Clinton is “the most qualified person to run for office” the former U.S. president said in a recent interview with People magazine. This week, in a Wall Street Journal guest article, Democrats Douglas E. Schoen and Andrew Stein chimed in as well, triggering a debate about the crisis in the Democratic Party. As a reaction to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ disastrous approval ratings, they called for “a political comeback for Hillary Clinton in 2024” and even declared her the “change candidate.”[
Sounds hard to believe? It is. The 74-year-old Hillary Clinton stands for “more of the same” like no other person. She countered Donald Trump’s “make America great again” with “America is already great” — as if the country under Barack Obama didn’t have to deal with any problems. We should not expect anything more from her than a political sitcom rerun. After the 2016 election, there was a short period during which it was obvious that Trump hadn’t won the election so much as Clinton had lost it.
But now many people don’t seem to remember that. Clinton herself dwells in a world of bizarre denial. Even though one of the largest FBI probes in history did not find any connection between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Clinton keeps talking about sinister Russians who stole her electoral victory.
It does not occur to her at all that her defeat in 2016 might have had to do with her policies as well . As secretary of state, she stubbornly ignored the Obama administration’s campaign promises, from a plan to end operations abroad and refrain from starting any new ones, to shutting down the prison of torture at Guantanamo Bay. If people keep talking about a comeback, then it won’t be an effort to solve the crisis, but a symptom of it.
