The Democrats’ vice presidential candidate is the perfect addition, as he proved with his appearance at the party’s convention. Donald Trump should be afraid of him.
Perhaps we’ll find out one day how the surprising decision to choose the little-known Tim Walz as Kamala Harris’ running mate came about. The very approachable former high school teacher and current Minnesota governor may be just the man to put the Democrats back on the road to victory. With his unpretentious and much-acclaimed appearance at the Democratic National Convention, the 60-year-old former football coach likely appealed to many Americans who have had enough of Donald Trump’s trademark hate and exclusion, but who have not yet been able to bring themselves to vote for the Democrats on Nov. 5.
The Uncle Next Door
The majority of voters in the U.S. also long for harmony and unity. Walz, a regular guy, father, uncle, friend next door, could be an ideal choice for those crucial voters. Indeed, this U.S. election will also be decided in the swing states of “small-town America,” and Walz, who is part of this, represents a genuine option for all undecided moderates.
If Harris wins, it will be in large part thanks to Walz, who credibly asserts that you can have your own opinion without marginalizing other people. In this sense, Walz is Trump’s real antagonist — and Trump clearly didn’t have Walz on his radar. In fact, hardly anyone did.
