Tehran: In a meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Mualem on Tuesday, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad assured that the United States and the Zionist regime of Israel would soon "come to the end of their lives."

According to a statement released by the Presidential Press Office, Ahmadinejad called on Islamic and Arab states to pave the way for empowering independent, popular governments and establish stability, security and progress in the region by enhancing their solidarity, cooperation, unity, resistance and vigilance.

The President also said that the Zionist regime of Israel had been established to pose threats, invade states in the region and sow discord among Muslims. He added that, "Sparking discord among Muslims, especially between Shiites and Sunnis, is a plot hatched by the Zionists and the United States to dominate nations in the region and loot their resources."

Ahamdinejad went on to say: "The region's countries should support the Islamic resistance of the Lebanese people and strive to enhance solidarity and unity among the different Palestinian groups to pave the way toward undermining the Zionist regime, whose demise is, of course, imminent."

For his part, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Mualem referred to the efforts made by the United States and bullying powers to increase conflict, to massacre Muslims and to sow discord among the Islamic faithful in the region, and he called on countries in the region to pave the way toward establishing peace and tranquility through consultation and unity, while preventing further genocide against Muslims.
