The new U.S. president Barack Obama will try to show voters that he’s in no way worse than his predecessor, and is not afraid of Russia.

This prediction was made by a Ukrainian political analyst, Viktor Nebozhenko, at a press conference in Kiev.

Nebozhenko said, “Russia will present a fundamental problem for Obama, and it’s already directly relevant to us. I am confident that Obama will want to show that he is no worse than Bush, who pretended that he was not afraid of Putin. Therefore, Obama will do his best to look like an American tough guy. He will need to show that he will not succumb to the charms of omnipotent Putin. He will achieve this goal through aggressive gestures and speeches, and it will be primarily reflected in Ukraine. I think that during the first six months, Russia and the U.S. will have ambiguous relations. But Ukraine will be the one that suffers. Although, it’s possible the situation will stabilize after half a year.

Nebozhenko believes that Ukrainian politicians will once again have to establish connections with the United States.

The political analyst further asserted, “All Ukrainian politicians are out of luck, because they don’t know Obama personally. Indeed, only a few years ago, even he did not suspect that he will become a part of a large charismatic project. As a result, Ukrainian politicians didn’t give Obama gifts such as towels, pitchers, or musical instruments. No one shook his hand, or even took a photograph with him. And that’s why now, our politicians are upset. They do not know how to develop relationships with people surrounding Obama.”

“Obama isn’t obligated to Ukraine, and therefore our politicians back in Washington will have to perform the swan lake, a tap dance, or something else, to look appealing to him. It is no secret that Obama is associated with George Soros and Ukrainian politicians who have a good relationship with Soros will be in a somewhat better position than those who are not friends with him,” summed up Nebozhenko.
