“So far, there has been close to twenty Iranians arrested in Baghdad, who have been forced to live in solitary confinement under bad conditions such as unsuitable food and an unfit environment. Regarding the Iranian prisoners in Iraq, it has been heard that the Americans, by way of indirect Iraqi officials, have been interrogating Iranian prisoners."

An accountable Iranian official in the South of Iraq stated that, currently, there are fifty Iranian citizens detained in prisons in Basrah.

Hossein Baghbani, told a reporter for “Tabnak” in Shelemche that he was restrained from announcing the crimes of the Iranians, however Iraqi sources announced that the arrested Iranians, who have amounted to fifty people in Basrah, mainly, were individuals who unlawfully entered Iraq and religious cities in this country.

At the present moment, the report from our correspondent regarding Basrah’s prison indicates harsh and inhumane behavior and a lack of the desired investigations that Iranian prisoners should receive.

This comes at a time in which some Iranians, who have been freed from the clinches of the Iraqis, say that they (Iraqis) don’t even give proper food to the prisoners.

On the other hand, a while ago, an Iraqi court established in Basrah acquitted an Iranian merchant of his charges. This Iranian merchant, who was detained for nearly one hundred days, was accused of carrying an extra $2,500 into the country. He was arrested at the entrance of the Shelemche border over three months ago. He was recently released due to the perseverance of our country’s Embassy officials.

So far, there has been close to twenty Iranians arrested in Baghdad who have been forced to live in solitary confinement under bad conditions such as unsuitable food and an unfit environment.

Regarding the Iranian prisoners in Iraq, it has been heard that the Americans, by way of indirect Iraqi officials, have been interrogating Iranian prisoners.
