Americans Are Tired of Managing the World
Americans are tired of managing the world and interfering in the affairs of Third World countries.
Haaretz reports that, according to one study, 49 percent of participants want America to stop interfering with the affairs of other countries and other parts of the world, and to leave the fate of those countries in the hands of their own people. This percentage has grown from 30 percent in 2002 to 49 percent this year.
Additionally, only 32 percent of Americans favored sending more troops to Afghanistan, while 40 percent opposed it. Also, 46 percent said that the Afghan government is able to solve its own problems.
According to the report, it seems that the image of America as a superpower has diminished. 41 percent said that America’s status as a super power has dropped in the last ten years, and 44 percent said that, after the economic crisis, China became the world’s economic giant, while just 27 percent said the same of America. This survey was conducted from October 28 through November 8 of this year with 2,000 participants.
