Obama Betrayed by His Christmas Tree

Finally, blunt proof that Obama is an arrogant communist and a defender of gay people. The American president surely believed he could slip this one by unnoticed, but he has been betrayed by his Christmas tree.

It is among the 800 decorations that decorate the conifer in the "Blue Room" of the White House that one finds, well-concealed, three Christmas ornaments that do not lie. On the first, one notices the portrait of the Great Helmsman himself, Mao Zedong. On the second, an ornament adorned with rainbow flags that symbolize the gay community and Hedda Lettuce, a popular drag queen. And on the last, a Mount Rushmore ornament has Obama's head pasted next to his four predecessors.

The conservative website BigGovernment.com exposed the "evidence," which was widely broadcast on the conservative blogosphere before finally catching the attention of Fox News.

The ornament with an effigy of Mao "is a slap in the face to all Americans," said one blogger, but it's not "an astonishing choice, considering the horrific parallels between the big leap forward [of Mao] and the direction in which Obama is leading the United States."

Needless to say, the president's opponents hope to get some mileage out of this "scandal." The first lady's office was quick to assert that these decorations were not chosen by them and that members of the local community decorated the presidential residence. The Right is already referring to it as "Ornament-Gate" (in reference to the Watergate Scandal).

More seriously though, the presidential couple may have fed the fire of more ferocious critics by choosing the controversial decorator, Simon Doonan, to give a Christmas ambiance to the White House. Doonan, who decorates the windows of the luxury store Barneys in New York, is known for having depicted — in a less than glowing manner — Margaret Thatcher as a dominatrix and Dan Quayle, vice president under George H.W. Bush, as a ventriloquist’s dummy.

So finally, I take advantage of this beautiful Christmas story to wish you a very joyous one! And as international news does not break during the holidays, your humble blogger will not break either. Therefore, till next time …

Voici enfin la preuve contondante qu’Obama est un communiste, un défenseur acharné des gais et un arrogant. Le président américain croyait sûrement pouvoir filer en douce, mais il a été trahi par son sapin de Noël.

C’est que parmi les 800 décorations qui ornent le conifère dans la «Blue Room» de la Maison-Blanche se trouvent, bien dissimulées, trois boules de Noël qui ne mentent pas. Sur le première, on aperçoit le portrait du Grand Timonier lui-même, Mao Tsé-Toung. Sur la deuxième, des drapeaux arc-en-ciel, symboles de la communauté gaie, et Hedda Lettuce, une populaire travestie. Et sur la dernière, le Mont Rushmore avec la tête d’Obama collée à côté de celle de ses quatre lointains prédécesseurs.

C’est le site conservateur Big Government qui a débusqué les «pièces à conviction», après quoi elles ont été diffusées largement sur la blogosphère conservatrice, pour finalement capter l’attention de la salle des nouvelles de la chaîne Fox News.

La décoration à l’effigie de Mao «est une claque au visage de tous les Américains», avance une blogueuse, mais ce n’est «pas un choix étonnant, considérant les parallèles horrifiants entre le Grand Bond en avant [de Mao] et le chemin sur lequel Obama a mis les États-Unis».

Inutile de dire que les détracteurs du président espèrent faire un peu de millage avec ce «scandale». Le bureau de la Première dame a beau affirmer qu’il n’était pas au courant de l’existence de ces décorations, rappelant que ce sont des membres de plusieurs organismes communautaires locaux qui ont décoré la résidence présidentielle, on parle déjà à droite du «Ornement-Gate» (en référence au scandale du Watergate).

Par contre, plus sérieusement maintenant, le couple présidentiel aura peut-être donné de la matière plus substantielle aux critiques les plus féroces en choisissant le décorateur controversé Simon Doonan pour donner une ambiance noëlique à la Maison-Blanche. Doonan, qui décore les vitrines du luxueux magasin Barneys, à New York, est connu pour avoir dépeint de façon peu élogieuse Margaret Tatcher en Dominatrix et Dan Quayle, vice-président sous George Bush père, en marionnette de ventriloque.
