For the moment, it’s impossible to know if there will be American bombers in the military intervention in Libya, which American journalists are now calling “Sarko’s War.”

The New York Times affirms this question. The paper adds that it is Hillary Clinton who succeeded in wresting the decision from Obama when she included the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia in the coalition.

Barack Obama gave the green light to American participation in the intervention, but for a duration covering “days, not weeks.”

It is unusual for the United States to be in a supporting role in an international coalition, as was the case in Liberia.

According to press reports, the Americans will furnish AWACS, planes equipped with communication-jamming equipment, tankers, drones and radar planes to control the airspace.

In spite of everything, Barack Obama wants limited American participation. He gave Gadhafi his ultimatum in the East Room (not the Oval Office) and then left for Brazil with Michelle and the children.
