Date: February 1945. Scene: American cruiser Quincy. Performers: Roosevelt and the king of Saudi Arabia, Ibn Saud.

Act: Finale of European domination in the Middle East.

Scenario: Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and seizure of the Grand Mosque of Mecca in 1979.

Mission: The U.S. assures the protection of the Saudi regime forever, against any danger coming from the East or the West, in return for provision of oil at a symbolic price.

Ambiance: Arab inflexibility on the fate of Palestinian Jews, who should return home.

Epilogue: Roosevelt Pact, renewed every 60 years.

Last updated: 2005.

If Nassif Hitti, Arab League ambassador to Paris, is feeling ironic again today about the situation of the Arab League or the Arab situation in general — designating the United States as the “twenty-third member country of the League” — it is certainly understandable. First, start with the relationship between the Arabs and the State of Israel, given weight by the United States.

Historic American leaders, like Theodore Roosevelt, had promised not to support the nascent Zionist project at the time. Let us ask the question: Where is the conflict today after so many genocides committed against the Palestinian people?

Are the Arabs so gullible as to destroy the Jewish lobby — active and very powerful since Truman — with a simple wish?

“I'm sorry, gentlemen, but I have to answer to hundreds of thousands who are anxious for the success of Zionism; I do not have hundreds of thousands of Arabs among my constituents,”* said Truman.

This wandering people, smarting from a long history of persecution, could blame the United States, who were slow to recognize the Jewish trauma, especially regarding the Holocaust.

Today, the vengeance of this people is total — revenge that is not directed at Nazi Europe but at the cousin enemy: the Arab world.

Result: Poverty and frustration of the Arab peoples, U.S. saber-rattling and invading — yesterday, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Afghanistan. Today, Libya, Egypt and Tunisia. Tomorrow, Iran, Yemen, Jordan ... under the delighted eyes of those who are seated in the League of Arab apostates (where the 23rd shadow reigns), who do not hesitate to kowtow to the heavens of the "no-fly zones” decried today only by the two close exceptions that honor the refusal front.

  1. Would you like to know whether you have a certain look you want to project? Check out your shadow. Like everything else, the shadow has two opposing functions. One, to protect us from the heat of the sun; and two, to provide an area of darkness to conceal one’s shameful activities. When we use it for protection we call it shade. When we use it for concealment we call it “shadow.” However, to be sure, when the sun is directly above us there is no shadow and everything is exposed. Likewise, there are no secrets in this world and no private thoughts because the Infinite Light of G-d is always directly above us with no shadows to conceal the dark forces.
