American Advice
The U.S. State Department call to Syrian armed opposition forces not to surrender themselves and their weapons didn’t come out of nowhere. This American advice is not “for the face of Allah,” nor does the American administration offer support of any kind free of charge. Their path is unknown as they do not speak any language except the language of interest; even for words, they want something valuable in exchange.
This call has a number of meanings. It is a reaction to Syria’s slap. They did not expect Damascus to agree to the Arab League initiative with such enthusiasm and to welcome it with open arms. Syria’s response surprised them; it blew all their plans, which were based on the expectation that Syria would reject the initiative, and ended their efforts to internationalize the situation in Syria. In their perception, the crisis in Syria was on the brink of ending after the military and elements of the government were able to eliminate the majority of criminal forces on the ground. By giving this little advice, they wanted the few remaining to instigate riots and tumult to show that the crisis is still there, to have a pretext to blatantly intervene in the internal affairs of Syria.
This American advice is a glaring indication of the Obama administration’s support of the murder and terrorism perpetrated by armed groups against [Syrian] citizens. It is part of their quest to perpetuate and prolong the current crisis to cause as much pain in Syria as possible, to maintain pressure on the Syrian decree [of amnesty] and distort its way of supporting the rights of countries in the region.
Syrian policy managed to foil this plot and rally public conscience around the leadership to uproot sedition. The U.S. has propagated evidence from the beginning that Syria would fall within weeks. They were wrong, and their plans have failed as well.
It is not the first time that Syria has faced the arrogance and haughtiness of America; nor is this the first time that America has tried to rattle the domestic situation in Syria. Syria has faced pressure and sanctions from America and the West for years. Syria won because she was right and America was wrong. Syria continued on its straight path after all of America’s attempts to twist her arm. Now she progresses with secure steps toward reforms despite the ill will that they arouse.
