The embassies now exist for Cuba and the United States.
Beyond conjectures and opinion, it is a fact. The embassies will open their doors and then, only then, will the negotiations, controversies, discussions, and ideas about the positions of the two sides come to the table for discussion.
The sequence of events has been the following: make the situation real and concrete, and then from that point on, the rest will take shape.
Create a space for the ideas, and then develop those ideas.
The streets facing the pier near the embassy were a little more guarded than usual this morning. In Washington, D. C. at 10 a.m., Silvio RodrÃguez will touch on some of the usual subjects during the inauguration of the Cuban Embassy in the U.S. capital. Here in Cuba we will find out if finally, the more than 500 people invited by the former Office of Interests will attend the raising of the American flag to our sky.
Do they know how many of our grandparents, parents, and siblings want to see that flag raised? However, the fact is that there is a lot of uncertainty about the event. The American side has not provided any details or public information.
For the moment, we know that John Kerry will not be present. However, will the flag be raised today at last?
Being careful about the information available, we hope so, but there are no guarantees.

Washington is no longer content with slow exhaustion; it has adopted a strategy of swift, symbolic strikes designed to recalibrate the international landscape.
The message is unmistakable: there are no absolute guarantees and state sovereignty is conditional when it clashes with the interests of powerful states.
