Putin: United States Presidential Candidates Do Not Serve the Best Examples

Moscow is ready to cooperate with either of the United States’ presidential candidates, although both of the current candidates – Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump – as they stand before the elections, do not serve the most ideal examples, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“They are both shocking in their own way. I think that this is not the best example,” said Putin, reports RIA Novosti with a link to Bloomberg.

The Russian leader conveyed pity that both candidates engage Russia in mutual attacks. Playing the “Anti-Russia card” is a “short-sighted approach,” said Putin.

Putin also dismissed the assumptions that the hack on the U.S. Democratic Party could be sponsored by Russian authorities. In connection to this, he recalled the United States’ accusations against Hillary Clinton that the State Department, under her leadership, approved a deal regarding the acquisition of uranium assets in the United States from a Russian company. Previously interested investors cited $145 million in the Clinton Foundation following the transaction.

“This is what we are actually running – meaning – the Clinton family? Complete nonsense,” said the head of the Russian state.

Putin called both candidates “very intelligent people,” who “understand what exact points to slightly push,” in order to receive votes. Mutual attacks, according to him, are part of the “political cultural of the United States.” “I would like to deal with the matter in person in order to make responsible decisions and execute the reached agreements. The names do not matter… The fundamental concern is that the individual has the confidence of the American people. Therefore, we have never interfered, are not interfering, and will not interfere in the internal political process,” Putin emphasized.

All votes in the United States will take place on Nov. 8. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump became the most unpopular candidates for president in the United States in 30 years. Clinton’s unpopularity among registered voters reaches 59 percent; while Trump’s figure amounts to 60 percent.
