If Trump’s Gaza Plan Is Enacted, He Deserves the Nobel Peace Prize
There is a lot to criticize about the U.S. president. But in this country, contempt for him is so great that his successes are ignored. One of them is the peace plan for the Gaza Strip.
Donald Trump considers himself the measure of all things. Weakness and fallibility are not applicable to him, and they are not to be considered mitigating factors in others. He knows how to “make” enemies, in both senses of the word. In inventive, hateful imagination, he reshapes them into pathetic and perishable types whom he fights with insatiable hate. In doing so, he is hardly distracted by the influence of such nebulous guiding lights as “objectivity” and “fairness.”
One only has to recall what Trump said about Barack Obama. Worse than that is that Trump is preparing to turn the United States — the mother of democracy, the only country in which a largely bloodless revolution has resulted long-term in more freedom — this wonderful land of the free, into a form of authoritarianism that has never existed before. May he fail!
All that has already been described frequently — mostly with a poisonous quill. Contempt for him is so great that, in this country, Trump is conceded little, and his successes are ignored. One of them is the peace plan for the Gaza Strip. If it is, in fact, implemented, Trump would deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.
And even if Hamas’ murderous knaves were foolish enough to torpedo it, President Trump, whose only tools are the wooden mallet and the Nuremberg Funnel*, would have at least made clear where he is headed. Under his presidency, the Gaza Strip will not fall back into the Israelis’ hands nor into those of the Palestinian Authority, and certainly not into those of Hamas — all without endangering Israel’s security interests.
