Why Did the US Vice President Cry?
The New York Times reported that U.S. Vice President JD Vance broke down in tears when he touched the cross during his visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in occupied Jerusalem. He confirmed that he had never cried in his entire life until that moment, an event due to his positive, emotional and human connection to the scene. It was as if he had never seen a church or a cross in his entire life that had affected him as profoundly as this sight.
U.S. officials have a human, religious and emotional sensitivity in such moments. Yet, they lack this human response when the heavily armed Zionist occupation army kills more than 37,000 children and at least 70,000 individuals in Gaza, in addition to more than 150,000 injured Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. Moreover, tens of thousands of people have been killed during the Zionist war on the southern suburb and all villages of south Lebanon.
The killing of Arabs and Muslims — particularly in Gaza, occupied Palestine, Lebanon and Yemen — is considered a duty by Zionist and American officials and is part of their doctrine. They do not hide this; they affirm it in daily statements. This is why they do not weep over Arab children specifically, and Arabs and Muslims in general. Where, then, have their humanity, tender feelings and noble conduct — as they claim to have — gone?
Consequently, the question here is this: Where were the faith and humanity in the U.S. and European countries when the Zionist occupation army destroyed churches in Gaza and stormed churches in the West Bank, particularly the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, on several occasions? This is evidence that those who follow Christianity in the Arab world differ from their counterparts in the U.S. and Europe, because Arab Christians join their Muslim brothers in defending the homeland. Where were American and European leaders when armed groups in Syria stormed churches and killed those inside, especially in the cities of Maaloula, Saydnaya and Aleppo, as well as religious sites in lraq? Where were American and European officials when those groups kidnapped monks in Syria and Iraq? Did they shed tears over all that happened to our Christian people in Palestine, Syria and Iraq?
