Donald Trump’s imperfections are increasingly coming to light due to the war in Iran. Despite his eccentricities, he has always been able to have successful relations with his partners. However, starting this conflict has left him without NATO’s support, has made Europe rescind its backing … and has almost led to him losing his MAGA followers and his party’s support.

He is more alone every day, but this has yet to make him change his mind. On the contrary, Trump is dedicated to badmouthing everyone who doesn’t support him. This Tuesday, he decided to criticize NATO. According to the Republican, he doesn’t need it anymore. Just as he doesn’t need his British aircraft carriers. As he said during one of these tantrums, he is not “happy” with the United Kingdom, because British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said no to sending ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

In light of the problem with oil (which he caused himself), Trump pictured himself crossing the Strait of Hormuz with his allies, united against Iran. However, this will not happen, as he is alone and more and more people are telling him “no.” The latest rejection was from the head of the International Maritime Organization, Víctor Jiménez, of Spain. He criticized Trump’s idea of escorting the ships in Hormuz because that wouldn’t guarantee safety, and because military protection of the ships would not be a sustainable solution.

In fact, he has ended up so alone that even his own MAGA followers have started to abandon him. They are fed up with their president's betrayal of America First principles. And this is not only because Joseph Kent, director of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center, resigned. It is also because the stars of the MAGA world, such as Tucker Carlson, with millions of followers who increased his popularity during elections, are now criticizing Trump for dragging them into another war.

They think that it was unnecessary, that Trump is giving in too much to Benjamin Netanyahu, and that the war is too expensive. And it is expensive. Specifically, $890 million a day. And this waste of money might even make him lose some of his Republican voters.

If there’s a vote on a supplementary expense to fund the war, even Trump’s own party is divided. Many disapprove, especially with the 2026 midterm elections looming, and with a war that is seen as so unpopular: 53% of voters don’t support this war and even fewer support expanding or prolonging it. Furthermore, 74% of Americans are against sending ground troops.

So that’s why, without NATO’s backing, without MAGA’s support, and without his party’s support, Trump has ended up more alone than ever.
