Another Shame for the West
On the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 incident, while Western politicians continue to use this event as a justification for their aggressiveness, some groups were paid to burn copies of the Holy Quran.
This anti-Islamic act, which clearly defies religious freedoms in America, is in line with actions like the decision to grant the Media Freedom Prize, presented by Chancellor Merkel, to the Danish cartoonist who drew disrespectful cartoons of the prophet Muhammad in 2005. However, the interesting point here is the position of the American officials on this issue.
While copies of the Quran were being burned in America, the American officials didn’t do anything to stop it. They merely expressed their regret about father Terry Jones’ decision to burn copies of the Quran.
The interesting point is that their opposition to such acts stems from concern for the safety of the American troops in Afghanistan, not anti-Islamism nor denying the rights of the Muslim population. The American police forces also took no action against the anti-Islamic groups on Sept. 11. The U.S. and European governments preemptively invaded Iraq and Afghanistan to prevent terrorist attacks and to defend democracy, human rights and international security. In doing so, they killed thousands of innocent people and detained thousands more for years (as we have seen in Guantanamo Bay), meddled in the internal affairs of other countries and even supported their national security violators. The question now is why have these same governments allowed these anti-Islamic acts to continue? Isn’t it true that they have started wars and pressured countries to advance global security? Then why haven’t they taken any measures against the priest who claims that he will burn the Quran?
What is obvious is that this anti-Islamic action, along with what has been done by European groups and parties, will only provoke over 1.5 billion Muslims around the world and lead to numerous global political and security problems.
We can find the answers to these questions in the previous reactions of American and European officials to international issues. When Barack Obama threatens other nations with nuclear attacks in his defense doctrine; when occupiers murder thousands of innocent people in Iraq and Afghanistan; when the West is silent about Israel's villainy against the people of Palestine, takes military action in Africa in the name of combating terrorism, and denies the right to peaceful nuclear energy to countries like Iran; and when Western officials pass anti-Islamic legislation to restrict the freedoms of Muslims, we find out that the Islamophobia in the West is not a result of how Western people think, but how their governments and the media are willing to commit any crime to achieve their goals.
These governments are so strongly affiliated with international Zionism that they have made combating Islam their first priority and are trying to achieve their imperialistic goals by confronting Islam with Christianity. These recent events are a shame for those who speak for human rights, and it makes it obvious once more that the international organizations — especially the U.N. — need to be reorganized.
These organizations should be restructured so that they represent the free nations without the presence of the imperialistic states, because their influence over international organizations results in nothing but the worsening of international tensions and the continuation of inhumane policies against Muslims worldwide.
At this point, the Islamic world should make use of its resources, such as the Organization of the Islamic Conference, composed of 57 countries and a billion people of the world’s population, and maintain its solidarity against the anti-Islamic policies of the Western governments. The Islamic world must also promote its international position, such as getting a permanent seat on the U.N. Security Council, to defeat those who started this war against Islam, which is run by international Zionism and is shown in the face of the Western governments. Because if they fail to do so, the pressures on Muslims will escalate, and Muslim countries will be pushed to the verge of destruction, as we see in the examples of Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan.
