American Policy: between the Lines
Since the beginning of the ongoing events in Egypt, the numerous comments issued by Washington have reflected the positions which were sometimes strange and sometimes contradictory. The evidence proves the state of confusion over both the desire to formulate a position for Israel and the fears of the potential for radical changes in Egypt.
All statements in the U.S. were confused, and they were also in line with Israel’s interests and the status of the contradiction between the desire to support the claim of the will of the Egyptian people in the democratic transition and the fear of the ability of these to make comprehensive changes that would threaten U.S. interests and Israel.
America had reached a state of deep confusion when Washington pushed Congress to pass legislation related to a domestic political crisis as something vital for both regional and international policy. Add this unacceptable act to the series of unacceptable policies of blatant interference in the internal affairs of states, governments and peoples throughout the world.
In the chaos of events in Egypt, and in the chaos of the American and Western position, an observer can clearly see that no one has the ability to survey or understand the changes that havev been manifest in Egypt. However, the discarded question remains, in the light of recent events and unclear positions: What is the nature of the changes that have happened in Egypt, and will the Egyptian people be able to bring about these changes despite American attempts to minimize them and redirect them in a “safer” direction that provides for the protection and maintenance of U.S. interests and the security of Israel?
It is believed that what is happening now is an attempt to gain more time to develop either a mature response or an evasion that they can put forward. But the strongest belief is that our brothers, the people of Egypt, will be able to drop those who betted on the worst outcome, on the people’s becoming bored or tired, and will achieve their objectives at the end of the day, despite all the complexities that America and the West are trying to drown them in.
