American Decision Against Al-Aqsa TV Unacceptable Arrogance

Gaza, PALTIMES, Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniya rejected the American Congress’s draft resolution that considers several Arab satellite channels, including the Palestinian Al-Aqsa TV, as a terrorist organizations. He said that it is evidence of the U.S. administration’s arrogance and its attempts to tighten the siege on the Palestinian people.

Haniya said during a solidarity visit to the headquarters of Al-Aqsa TV network in Gaza City on Monday, July 14th, 2008, “This American decision does not bother us but in contrary, it is a legion of honor. It is evidence siege’s failure, because they are not seeking to blockade the [Palestinian] word, after their failure to blockade the [Palestinian] attitude, which they will also fail at.”

He added, “Our visit to Al-Aqsa TV Network comes after this unjust U.S. Congress resolution against this channel and other Arab channels to affirm our rejection to such decision and to praise the role of the channel in supporting the Palestinian people and defending their rights”

Haniya stressed to challenge the U.S. decision saying, “What I saw and heard today confirms that this decision could not break the will of the employees of Al-Aqsa TV. They are in full readiness to continue their hard work for this channel and to reach to the fullest extent.”

On the other hand, Haniya described what is happening in the West Bank due to Israeli attacks on civilian institutions as “inhuman massacre” in which some parties help the occupation by targeting charitable associations and by the arrest of parliament members, ministers, heads of local councils as well as thousands of citizens.

Despite this, Haniya stressed that [Palestinian] victory is inevitable due to patience and steadfastness. The Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip will remain an integral part of the inherent Palestinian people in the West Bank, areas occupied in 1948, exile camps and diaspora without concern to Egyptian- Palestinian issues.

In addressing the Arab and Muslim people, Haniya said, “we are proud of belonging to a nation that proved warmly during the plight of siege that they are in direct contact with the Palestinian people and its national cause,” sending his regards and appreciation to the political and financial supporters of the Palestinian government and people in the Gaza Strip.

The Prime Minister stressed that “the siege is on the verge of collapse and that the sun is also setting on the siege’s failure to achieve its objectives, thanks to the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and the leading role of Al-Aqsa TV in transferring the suffering to the Arab and Islamic nations.”
